Have you tried reinstalling it by right-clicking the setup file and clicking 'run as administrator'. This solves some compatibility issues with Vista. May not really be your case but you can give it a try.

Photoshop does work on Vista , you just need to have the right version.

Sure, if you are trying to install Element 7 for Windows +XP on Vista, that does not work.

Try downloading a newer version from here and installing , so to test the system.l

Download from : Free Adobe Photoshop Download

Also remind that you need to run the software as administrator.

To run as administrator you can click the right button of mouse on the installer file, and chose from the drop down menu "run as administrator".

Hey there, I did not read your following comment!.

If you can use the Clone stamp option Photoshop is working, that means that you are doing somethiong wrong.

Photoshop (even elements) is a quite complicate software, if you do not follow the instructions, a determined command as clone stamp may have no effect.

First remember that you have touse the alt key when you use clone stamp. See the following:

YouTube - You **** at Photoshop #3: Clone Stamp and ...
Then remember that if you are working on a layered image, the stamp , select and more tools will work on current layer, if current layer is blank you get no effect.
Go to the LAYER MENU and chose FLATTEN IMAGE before using the tool.

Some tools also work only on RGB picture, go to properties on the IMAGE menu and ensure that picture is in rgb mode.

  • Pritish Singh Nov 02, 2008

Do you have DirectX 9 installed?
    please install it first.

If you have any plug-ins installed, especially ones from
Alien Skin, such as Snap Art, or Essentials 2 from onOne Software,
remove them and see what happens.

Sorry about that didnt read your comment about the problem..

Re-check Preferences......... Edit > Preferences > Display and Cursors....

check "Painting Cursors" is to 'Normal Brush Tip' (You can still have
"Show Crosshair in Brush Tip" at the same time, but try it with and
    without);

check "Other Cursors" is to 'Standard'

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Nov 02, 2008

Well what you can do now is complete removal.. Including manual removal of any registry entries and then re-installing.. To manually remove the reg entries open registry editor(Click start->Run->type "regedit")Then search for the elements photoshop and elements seperatesly. This will Ensure total clean up. Then re-install and see if it works..

Hello, as said before, it seems that the version might not be compatible with Vista.
Which version are you using, it would be more helpful to accommodate a solution to your problem knowing that.
I would suggest uninstalling, restarting the computer, and trying to install again, if the version is indeed compatible.

I'd also suggest going to the website:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compati...
And check if the software is indeed compatible with Vista.

  • Tamir Meiri
    Tamir Meiri Nov 02, 2008

Do you have the most updated drivers for your Graphics card?
Also, try checking if your DirectX is the latest version. If not, try and update it and see if there's any results.

  • Tamir Meiri
    Tamir Meiri Nov 02, 2008

    Also, try the Adobe website:http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/microsit...
Search the knowledge base, choosing Photoshop Elements on the right, for anything relevant to your issue.

  • Tamir Meiri
    Tamir Meiri Nov 02, 2008

it seems as though one of the brushes/filters hasn't been installed properly.
Do other things work properly for you in the application?

  • Tamir Meiri
    Tamir Meiri Nov 02, 2008

If everything else is okay, it seems as though some of the preferences of the filters may be corrupt - try checking that under file-preferences.
If nothing there implies anything, then perhaps, as I said, the brushes/filters were installed badly.
Try taking the installation CD and see if you can find the Brushes/Filters directories there, and copy them to the installed location on your hard drive.

Photoshop 6 0

You put Photoshop 6.0 on your computer from disk?

(I use PS7)

It's in a temporary folder.
Suggest go to Search, (Start > Search), and click on -
All files and folders
Under - All or part of the file name;
,type -> Photoshop 6.exe

When Photoshop 6.exe comes up, double-click right on it.

Tell me what you see next

(When Photoshop is installed, it creates a desktop icon. I figure you have it copied to the computer, but not installed.
I know it works with Win7, but cannot tell you if it works with Win8)

My web cam dont work ,its works on wind xp but when i instal wind vista so web cam dont work

It may not be compatible with windows Vista. You may have to Google the manufacturer of the webcam and look for information to see if it is indeed compatible. If it IS compatible then you may have to find the vista drivers for it.

Photoshop does not work on vista

When Adobe began shipping Photoshop® Elements 5.0 and Adobe Premiere® Elements 3.0 software in September, final versions of Microsoft® Windows® Vista were not available to complete the testing required to ensure compatibility.
Shortly after Windows Vista becomes available to consumers, Adobe plans to release updates for Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 to provide compatibility with Windows Vista.
Updates for existing Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 owners will be available as a free download from adobe.com, and updated Vista-compatible versions of Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0 will become available in the same timeframe.

tnx 4 using fixya!!!

Wacom tablet not working properly :(

There is a couple of things you can do. First you can try if you see the icon or can find the program is to go into the properties and choose compatibility and choose run this program in compatibility mode for, windows xp, That should work....If not you can try this too

Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.
2. Right-click the Command icon, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate.
3. Navigate to Windows\System32.
4. At the prompt, type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
5. When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.
