Good morning Sir. On clicking MYCOMPUTER the harddisk drives-C,D,E,F and FDD, CD drive and Pendrive are shown. On rightclicking any of the drives C,D,E,F of Hard disk--click Explore or Open -- the drives don't open to show files or folders. However the other drives namely - FDD, CD, Pendrive are opening.
I am now acessing the files and folders of C,D,E & F drives through "My documents".
Please suggest solution or system cleaning tool. I have already cleaned the drives by Symantec Antivirus.

Insert the windows disk in the CD-Rom drive in the computer, then press F12 when you first turn it on. keep pressing it until a menu appears. In the menu, select whichever option is the CD-Rom drive. then follow the onscreen instructions to install Windows.
Hi Sir/Mam. You can try to restore it by: Here are the steps Right click mycomputer Click properties Click Hardware Click Device manager (Directly click Device Manger for Windows 7) Then Right Click on the list of items in the device manager and click Scan for hardware changes.
If you can still see the Disk Drive. It might just be disabled. Go the the Disk Drive List then right click your disk drive then enable it.
if it has a USB port then u may use a pendrive and change the boot seq in BIOS to boot from USB drive
in the pendrive u must have all the WinXP OS install files...
use another PC having USB slot and a CD drive,
first make a pen drive bootable by formating it and copying the system files....(check what's the drive letter in which the pendrive is shown on MyComputer...it will be listed as "Removable Disk")
Note the drive letter say D: or E: or G: etc
then go to
Start / Run type
u will get a new black window
in the black window type
u will go to c:\>
it will take u to
so now it will look like this
format e: /s or G: /s or E: /s based on the drive letter that u noted earlier
use another PC to just copy all files form a WinXp install CD to that formated pen drive and use that to boot your above PC that does nto have CD rom drive to install the Win OS
Does it appear as a drive letter? If not, try to go to Computer Management (in XP right click on MyComputer and choose Manage, on other versions you have to find it yourself), open Disk Management, find a disk without a drive letter, with a capacity that matches your pendrive, and assign a drive letter to it, one that's not used. A good idea is to use letters towards the end of the alphabet. Once you do it, the pendrive should appear on the list of drives in My Computer.
Now it is clear that your system is of good configuration and the fault was occurred due to removing of power supply directly. Do one thing check the same drive on another pc with good configuration. If same thing will happen, then you can visit your nearest service centre but remember it should be in warranty period.
I think there might be a problem wit the DVD that you are inserting.
so wat you do insert the DVD before startin the installation. open "mycomputer" go the CD drive right click and then click explore copy all the contents in the dvd. paste it in your harddisk after you are done with the copyin process try installin the software from your hard disk.
i m sure installaion wont hang and ur installation process also will be fast
