Why when I put the water on the heating is coming on instead?

Hi there is one radiator that is usually in the bathroom that is in the same system as the hot water to prevent overheating.
If thats not the problem then i would look at the zone control valve for the heating as it would seem it is faulty

Mine is a different brand but looks similar if yours has a drop down panel which you open to set the times and to alter for winter summer in this panel you will see a very small hole Take a ballpoint and insert in the hole and press this is a reset button that the electrician told me about when mine went wrong it is not marked but it is a tiny button inset in the hole

Hot water not going, wanting to know how to turn it back on?

You have a real good description of your thermostat--
I wonder why you suspect the thermostat to be causing your 'No Hot Water' problem?

First of all, I have to be sure I understand your real problem--
When you say you want to 'turn the Hot Water back on', (It is 'Not going')
Do you mean you want a boiler (maybe in the basement?) -- or maybe a zone valve in a Hot Water, Baseboard heating system-- to be heating your house/ room/ apartment?

I would suppose, if you have the thermostat set higher than the room temperature, that it should be giving a 'call' to the boiler (or Baseboard Hot Water Heater..) to ignite a fire, and heat the waer, and then heat your room, or house.

So-- Could the problem be in the Device heating the Hot Water?

Please tell us more about your heating system-- what type of fuel, -- What happens when you lower the Thermostat, and then raise it-- What used to happen, and what does NOT now happen, etc.

Tell us more clues-- maybe we can help remotely like this-

St6400c thermostat wont run the central heating independantly

This does not sound like a thermostat problem. I would be looking for a zone valve or circulator pump problem.

I have an old Honeywell ST499A/ST699B thermostat. It still works OK but when we have a power cut I have to re-programme everything. Presumably this is because the battery needs replacing. I cannot find a way of opening the control box to get into the unit to replace the battery and in any case I’m not sure if the battery is renewable?

do you have a separate or built in programmer? if itis separate ISOLATE MAINS undo the screws on the bottom of programmr and checkthat ther are no loose wires ( make a note of where they go for future ref. ). If wires OK check that the valves are working switchoff HW and Heating switch one on at a time and check that each valve is opening and closing and that the boiler and pump fires up ( it could b the micro-switch in the valve is broke! )
