My computer wont start on after bios update failure

And nothing will happen. Do not PERFORM BIOS UPDATE unless strictly necessary. Do not perform BIOS UPDATE without CHARGER plugged in and be sure you have enough power for 10 minutes. NOW... If you are lucky, in service they will be able to REWRITE your BIOS. Check HP website for service in your area. If not, your motherboard will have to be replaced. Good luck. Keep us informed of the results.

If computer SHUT DOWN while reading BIOS FILES you might have a little chance to repair it. Unplug battery. Charger must not be connected. Press POWER for 30-40 seconds. Plug back battery. Press power. And pray before this.
IF this will not repair it... the two options described before will...

Foxconn n1996 chip needs replacing as had power cut as updating bios

Reboot the computer.
If error still occurs after rebooting the computer enter CMOS setup and check all values, this includes verifying the time and date are correct.

During the boot process you will see on the screen a certain key to press to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
You will also need to set the time and date

In the main or system setup screen you should be able to see the date and time Using your arrow keys navigate to the date and change the date. Once highlighted on the month, day, or year, press your arrow keys or your page up / page down keys to change the date.

Once everything has been verified and changed make sure you save and exit CMOS setup.

If everything appears to be correct and the issue persists try resetting the CMOS values to the defaults or Reset Configuration Data.

If this issue continues to occur after you turn off your computer off it is possible that the CMOS battery may be failing or already bad. Before considering replacing the CMOS battery try leaving your computer on for several days.

If a BIOS update has been run on the computer the values stored in CMOS may have been reset. Enter CMOS setup re-enter all values and then save and exit CMOS setup.

If you're unable to enter the CMOS setup or after running a BIOS update your computer no longer keeps its values the incorrect BIOS update may have been installed for your computer or the version downloaded may be corrupt. We suggest trying to update the BIOS again or reverting back to an earlier version.

Hope it helps

First Hello. Before few days, when I turn on my PC(but I was unpluged my machine from electricity) and on monitor displays CMOS wrong set date/time,cpu frequensy.I hit BIOS set up sittings and Windows xp...

Replacing the bios battery was the correct thing to do. Answer me this. The Asus motherboard should have a green LED light lit (Standby power LED), when the system is turned off. Also keep the power cord for the power supply connected at all times. Though it is possible the replacment bios battery was all ready low on voltage or dead. When you're system is turned off the power supply continues to send 5volt DC to the motherboard which maintains the bios 3volt DC.
If the green LED is not lit than there is no power charging the bios battery and every time you boot the system the bios will have lost its settings. If the green LED is red in color, than the problem is within the standby switch built into the motherboard. The standby circuit can not be repaired. Double check all power connectors from the power supply to the motherboard. If everything has a good connection and you're bios settings continue to reset you should consider replacing the motherboard. At this point you have nothing to loose. Install the latest bios update,
(Beta Version 1010.005). 2006/02/14 update.

Bios update

If updates are available, you can always get them from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

Why do you think you need an update? If something goes wrong like a power cut, or computer problem, your motherboard will be scrap. Doing bios updates is very risky and should only be undertaken if absolutely neccessary.

Creative Zen Firmware Problem

Update all the drivers on your computer. Every device should be completely up to date. After this, look for updates to your BIOS.
Note: This is very dangerous. Updating your BIOS may result in damage to your computer. A BIOS is a code the motherboard uses to boot up and run the system by, and by changing this the motherboard may be confused and not work properly. Please use caution when attempting to update your BIOS, and don't hold me or the site responsable if your computer breaks.
So updating your BIOS could fix the problem, as that's the base of the firmware. I can't think of anything else that's productive

Bios Up date problem

I don't do many BIOS updates (mostly because they can be fatal to your system if they go wrong) but my general understanding is that if the update does not finish then you are out of luck. Your best bet will probably be to replace the motherboard completely.

Hopefully someone on here has a better idea though...

Best of luck :)

Compaq BIOS update F.37 bricks Presario?

BIOS is not corrupted. yo download the wrong BIOS. either for the worng machine (I do think so-twice?). or you download the earlier version.
nothing you can do.
go to ebay or criglist see if any body is selling the same motherboard that works.
get it and replace the BIOS chip, you don't nee to replace the whole motherboard. just the BIOS chip.

It sounds like a mother board problem since you upgraded the bios and got different results. Try plugging in the adapter and warming it up. Will the computer run without the battery? that will also let you know if it's the battery.

My initial thought was that your AC adapter may have a heat problem or failing after a while. Wrap it in plastic and put it in ice and see if it lasts longer. If you have the same problem there are other issues going on in the computer power system.

- do a bios update (or downgrade if needed) to see if it fixes the issue

- but probably the BIOS battery is not keeping the proper voltage anymore, and it automatically resets the BIOS (do the bios setting that u change, remain changed after unpluging/pluging the comp ?!). Try keeping the computer pluged in for a day and see if the battery charged properrly (if the set date remains )... if not ..change the battery.

- as for the self starting, there is a setting in the BIOS, that activates/dissables that ! - see u;re user manual ...
