I too tried dozens of universal remotes over the years and none worked at all, TILL YESTERDAY. A guy at Walmart said use the Philips brand. Not sure, I tried. SRU3004, it doesn't do everything (like eject) but does let you into the Source (input button) and navigate to the record settings(sleep button), and power etc. The unit is worthless without a remote. Maybe there is another Philips product that has more I dunno. OH, and the code listed didn't work. I had to do the manual search and it was like the 300th push on the power button so don't give up too quick. I couldn't believe it worked!!!!!

my son knocked batteries out of Philips remote and I had to reprogram it. I wish I had the numeric code..I finally got it with the channel buttons. I think I may have used the code search by brand for ALL to reset it..Keep trying. I swear it works its just tough to get it programmed.

I think you are out of luck, unless you can find someone else who owns one, and will let you use their controller to program a learnable remote.

in regard to best solution by "guest", what did you do after the 300th push? I finally got there too and the channel did change but that was it. It did not program the remote to work properly. It changed only one channel, then i push mute. then nothing. please help.
