Question about Computer System Cooling

1 Answer

System Cooling Hey, thanks for the response on the video cards- I bought the 9600GT. Can you advise me on the best performing after market heatsink/fan enabled CPU cooling setup? I'm building a system with ASUS pq5 se/r Mobo with 16g RAM DDR2, core 2 duo E8500, 1 internal 500g WD sata, 1 external (at times) Ive been looking at the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme because ive seen it mentioned, but surely theres better products out there? it doesnt look like its got a scrap of copper in it, and I want to overclock to the highest speed possible. I have also considered a cheap(ish) water cooling sys, like Thermaltake CL-W0065 Silent Water CPU Liquid Cooling Kit. Problem is I have no idea of the performance of any of these items, and dont want to buy a pretty looking lump of ****. (I love the look of Thermaltake 4005 heat exchanger) pls advise me, or tell me how to check performance (is there a heat dissipation stat recorded for these item?)

Alright, Ive gone through this company before for my own cooling needs with my Micro System. SO i trust them.

Here is just a few idea's. Im not sure what your budget is (if you have one, i wish i had none lol)

For your Video Card

CPU

And the Rest of the case, to keep everything on Ice for smooth performance

These are my suggestions. Take it or Dont. I would use those in a a Full ATX system in a heartbeat, i do use the Video Card Coolant piece as we speak, because, as everyone knows.... Micro systems generate a lot of heat in a super small space. Torching ones system is never what the person wants.

This is what i have found for quality and performance along with barely any sound output from the unit. Has a 30,000 Hour lifetime, simple installation, light weight compared to the Thermaltake 4005, which is a bit on the bulky side. Total weight is 28 oz's, a bit under 1 1/2 lbs. I picked this because of its quality, but also its price. Its not overtly expensive but the quality doesnt go out the window with the low price

My hp laptop pavillion dv3 video card over heat, then shot down but cooling fan is working properly! what is the solution to these trouble?

the cooling fan in a laptop is mostly for keeping the whole system cool unless you have a custom vid card installed. make sure the vents underneath are clean and invest in a fan for the laptop. I got one on e-bay for less than $10 and have seen them at Wal-Mart for $14. an external fan is your choice I haven't had any problems since I got one for mine

Does this fan have a brushed motor? Thanks Phil

The Exhaust Fan/Video Card System Fan Kit from StarTech is an add-in cooling fan designed to fit in the PCI or ISA expansion slots of any computer. It is used to exhaust warm air out preventing problems due to overheating components. The exhaust fan inlet faces adjacent PCI or AGP cards and makes a great video card cooler for hot running 3D accelerator cards like the Voodoo TNT2 GeForce256 and others. A quiet running brushless DC motor coupled with a high efficiency blade design is capable of moving 36 CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air. Power is supplied to the fan using a standard LP4
hope this helps

The warranty should be handled by Sony. Check your documents, as some brands only offer 90 days, while stores sometimes have their own extensions for longer periods. Best Buy can also advise which one it is.

Hp pavillion dv6000 laptop fan not running

Hey guys, i just had the exact same problem with my fan. What i did to fix it, was that opened it up, got to the fan and simply gave it a couple of swirls, and after not running for half a year, the fan suddenly worked again. When i had it opened up i simply used a vacuum cleaner to, to get the dust from within the laptop. I used this video to open the laptop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbSSnAZYc0I&feature=related.. I have no experience doing this sort of thing, but it is easily done, just takes a mere 30 min. Regards Nils, Denmark

HP DV6000 PROBLEM WITH VGA CHIP

Since this is an on board video chip you can't change it out or get a new grapics card. The HP DV6000 doesn't have a graphics card adapter in it. So your best bet would be to replace the motherboard.
Which you can search for online to buy.

Hope this helps.

Cool fan

this could be a few different things you may not have enough memory(ram) in the computer, the video card can't handle the games because there isn't enough memory on the card. it never hurts to add another fan to cool it off better. most higher end video cards have cooling fans on them too.

Hi - what Wattage is the Power Supply? I think you may need around 500 watts or more.

I have had similar problems in the past caused by insufficient Power being supplied to components (including having to move my Video Card's power cable pick up to very close to the Power Supply Unit instead of coming off the tail end of the wiring harness! - this worked in my case).

Hope this helps.
