I have The Same product just the 1TB size. I copyed over important Folders for storage while I did an overhaul on my Internal Hard Drives. Now, out of 15 Folders, only 3 I was able to put back on my Computer, then others come up with

"E:/ *** is not accessible. Access Denied".

I've looked all over the internet, and all I keep hearin about is "Oh your no the admin so your not allowed to look at those...... I am Admin, I'm the only one who uses this computer. Plugging it into another computer dosne't help either.

Don't get me started with the stupid thing shutting down after a while... When I try to access it it asks me if I wanted to re format it... I did 3 times when I first hooked it up.

I have a similar problem. Same 320G Drive. I can actually see the documents, and access some, but not others. I get the following:
This message can appear if a file is saved with permissions. Permissions, also known as rights or privileges, can be applied to a file, folder, or almost any resource available from a network (printers, shares, files, databases, Web sites, etc). When a user attempts to open a resource that requires specific user permissions, this message will appear if the user does not have the necessary permissions.

However, these are my documents, my computer, my drive. I have all permissions.

Cannot access specific files on my stored files on the 320G SimpleTech Pininfarina. I get an access denied message. When I click show help, I get the following message:

Although these are all my documents, my computer, my drive. Please help.

The file you need is called takeownership you have to google for it as it's in one of the forums the file is in the form of a zip file and when extracted you select the takeownership and install a little code into your reg and when you select a folder right mouse button on it and select takeownership this willl get rid of access denied garbage and give you full control over the folder and you do the same on any hard drive.

hope this will solve problems of access denied

Could be the caddy is busted or the drive is encrypted.

Try another machine and see if it still does the same.

click start control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start or you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

hope this helps you

When i try 2 view files it says the drive is not accessable : access denied can i fix it?

Hi, there could be multiple reasons for this error. How old is your hard drive? Did you unplug the device while transfering file to it. You could try to replug it on the last pc where it was working and try to do a scandisk. Thanks

Or right click on the drive and select format.

I need driver software for my external hard drive. I have the 320GB Simple tech.

drivers should be on the drive! on desktop- click on my computer, click on drive letter (right click)- click on properties- or click on 'open' - if it shows driver files, double click and install drivers, or you may need to format it!
good luck!

Assming you're using MS Vista or XP Pro try using the Checkdisk tool. In <My Computer> right click on the drive icon, left click <Properties>. On the <Properties> screen left click the <Tools> Tab and use left click the <Error Checking/Check disk> option. Tick all options then <Start> and wait and hope.
