If it's a android I recommend deleting apps you don't need and going into the Settings and into the Apps tab. Tap on any app such as Facebook or something of the sort and tap clear cache, do that for several apps to free up memory.
Clear your history, cashe, cookies, etc. They all take up space and slow your phone down. Also a huge history in your msging can slow your phone down. Especially if they are picture msg's. Clear the msging history often. One last thing that can speed up your phone is power cycling your phone. Turn your phone off occasionally. Not just when it starts slowing down. You should power cycle your phone daily for best results. I suggest at least weekly though for most users. Depends on how heavy your usage is.
It all depends on your phone model, your type of firmware and hardware configuration. Smartphones comes with certain hardware configuration, an example: Snapdragon Octacore, Qualcomm, etc... some cpu works at 1.2gh. others 1512, and the latest at 2.3gh of speed. Also the ram memory affects how your phone works, if you have your phone clutter with a lot of apps, music, videos, etc... then your phone will work very slow. New firmwares needs more cpu, memory to work fast. I am not able to help you on how to clean your phone since there is no details about the phone model, the type of Android. With that in the details, maybe I could've get some tips to try to make it work faster or lighter. Best of luck.
Save all of your data to a micro SD card. This removable
card allows you to save music, videos and pictures without slowing down
your cell phone's memory. Purchase a few cards if you constantly save
Remove icons from your main menu. Have only a few icons so
your cell phone can start up faster once it is on. Select the icon(s)
you want to remove, click "Options" and "Delete From Main Menu."
Try closing all the open apps. Double click on the home button and long press (press for about 3 or 4 seconds) an app on the bottom tray. Tap on the red X and close each app. Don't worry, it's not deleting the apps, just closing them from the background. Try closing them all and see if that speeds things up. Good luck!
