Try taking the cold hose of at the tap and check to see if has a little mesh filter in there. This could be blocked up with gunk.

It sounds like a lid switch problem. Lift lid up & down slowly about 20 - 30mm, you should hear the switch click. If you can't hear it, remove the lid & push lid switch in by hand. It is small button at right hand side of lower edge of panel. Hold button in & press start. If machine starts to fill with lid off, then you have a problem with the lid not pressing button in far enough.
Please let me know after you check the switch if you require further assistance.
Regards, Richard

Frigidaire top load wont fill with water, and all other functions are working

Sounds like the solenoid fill valves where the hoses connect to the machine have gone bad.

Usually, it's just a matter of unplugging the machine, turning the water valves off a the supply connections, disconnecting the hoses, opening the entire top of the machine or removing the back panel, removing the plastic hot/cold water mixing valve assembly, getting a replacement assembly, and connecting the wires to the same connections after mounting the new valve assembly.

Close it up, reconnect the hoses turn the water back on, plug it in, and try it.

I have a Fisher & Paykel GW609AU washing machine

keep it simple, make sure water is on to both hot and cold hoses. Trip switches for door (and sometimes soap draws) can prevent machine working. Try asking a few logical questions. Has the machine been moved recently? If its out of level this could be a problem. Check solenoids are working (these are electrical taps at the back of machine which hoses hock up to), to do this try both hot and cold settings. Even try changing water level settings to further attempt to deduct were problem might lie. hope this helps and let us know how u go

Which is hot & cold inlet connection

If you want to connect up a washing machine that uses hot and cold water but you only have a cold water supply (such as in a basement or garage) you can use a Y Piece connector to connect the hot and cold fill hoses to a single cold water supply (external link to 4Washerhelp spares).
The washing machine will then work OK. Simply screw the Y-Piece onto the tap, and then screw the hot and cold fill hoses to the Y-piece and connect the other end of the fill hoses to the washing machine. (You may also be able to buy this part from a DIY store like B&Q)
If you don't connect a water supply to the hot valve (and simply connect the cold water hose to the cold valve leaving the hot valve with nothing connected to it) then some wash programs may not work as some programmes only fill with hot water. However, some washing machines will work OK with only the cold fill hose connected. You can always try it and see. The worse that will happen is the washer could either stick on the odd wash programme or may abort on some. If you do this though it's possible for water to drip out of the hot valve on some machines during fill. It's best to use a y-piece if possible.
The fact that you have connected cold water to the hot valve is irrelevant, the washing machine will not know any different and will just heat the water up to the correct temperature. The washing machine may use slightly more electricity but if it's less than 10 years old it shouldn't be significant unless you use a lot of 60 or 90 degree washes. On 40 degree washes, manufacturers argue it's more efficient to fill with cold water only and slowly heat up the water to 40 degrees.

Turn off the water to the washer, unscrew the hoses ( do one completely before moving to the other)Once you unscrew the first hose you will see a small filter screen inside the opening on the washer,Remove the screen and clean it, replace it and reattach the hose,Now go to the other hose and do the same thing, once both are done and hooked back up, turn the waterback on and everything should work as normal.

Hi. My smartdrive 6.5 kg top load washer pushes cold water up the hot water line while it is filling up. I don't use hot water. thank you

on your machine when you select cold, the hot water valve will open automatically letting cold water thru it.can you connect the hot hose up to a tap to stop the water leaking out? or you can buy a screw on plug from a hardware shop that will cap off the valve at the machine or the hose. sometimes to save a customer money i connect their hot hose to the hot valve then fold the hot hose in half and tape it in that position . this stops the water. hope this helps. please reply for further help if you need it
