The technician declared that flyback transformer is defective because when the tv is turned on, the picture is not clear(it is something like the picture is distorted with a chirping sound). i can hear the voices of the characters in the tv but it's distorted.. as i opened the tv, i heared the flyback sounds(something like theres air coming out).. but wen i went to test it with a flyback tester,it's good.. what can you suggest? please help me..

Re: i got a big problem with my tv..
Did the technician said what was wrong with the transformer?(leaky)?,It might sound like air but is High voltage leaking from the top ,be very careful when proving around there and just get it change because is not repairable and dont use it or it will damage other components.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

turn (only by 2 to 5 degrees ) all the knobs on flyback transformer in clockwise direction & then switch on tv .............you will get picture atleast for 1 or 2 mins ............ this confirms only flyback transformer is defective ........ so it has to be replaced by new one .................otherwise transistor (big in size fixed near flyback with its back clamped or screewed to aluminium metal ) has to be checked ......if that is also fine then complete main board has to be checked ...... but flyback replacement is a must ........in your case iam 100 % sure only flyback is deffective ...........

i hope your tv is more than 4years old ....... in all CRT TV's or CRT monitors after 4years a component called flyback transformer (see picture ) becomes weak - its work is to supply voltage to tube............. then following are the signs ... (1) in some TV's only front LED's blinks - no picture no sound.... (2) in some TV's picture comes slowly after few seconds or after few mins or after few hours......... (3) in some TV's suddenly picture & sound goes temporarly & after some time again it appears ...... etc in case of (2) & (3) only flyback transformer needs to be replaced .....100% GUARANTEE again TV works normallyBUT in case of (1)... --------------- YOUR CASE (a) either only flyback transformer gets deffective or (b) flyback transformer & another component called transister ( will be near flyback transformer & its back portion is attached to aluminium metal ) gets defective or (c) along with flyback & transistor -- 3 or 4 more components (resistors, diodes, some times ICs ) gets deffective so replacing flyback transistor is a must .. & to find whether any other component is deffective or not completemainboard has to be checked ....... so if you are a technical person & having expierence in servicing line then you can do it yourself otherwise approach good tv service engineer ........... your TV is really very good one ... so don't think of buying new TV .... just goahead for repairing it it is worth & it works for atleast 2 more yrs....... try this & tell me what happened switch off your TV ... remove power cord from socket ,,,,.ware some mat or chapples to your feet ..... remove your TV's back side cover ......... observe carefully for any physically damaged components .... if you find then don't do anything ... close tv cover & approach tv service engineer ............. but if no physically damaged components are visible then take a suitable screew driver & rotate 2 (or 3) Knobs on flyback transformer in clockwise or anticlockwise direction - very little ( 4 or 5 degrees ) - you have to do this without touching any cable or any part of your tv .......... then fix..... back side TV cover ........connect power cord - stay at a distance & switch on your tv ......... if you get picture atleast for few seconds then in your case only flyback transformer needs to be replaced otherwise complete mainboard has to be checked. to find other deffective component ............. so your tv problem is a harware problem - it cannot be solved using remote control or any buttons on your tv ..... if you are finding difficult to get it repaired then you can remove your tv mainboard with the help of some technician & send to me ...... i will replace deffective components .... & send back to you ....you only have to bare the shipping charges .....it will take maximum 12days (5days - to recieve + 2 days servicing + 5 days to send back to you )....
The set has a high voltage problem, "the flyacktransformer is defective" It generates the high voltage in the picture tube and with the help of the video circuits it produces a picture. It is not cost effective to repair the tv, cheaper to replace.
Ur tv the high voltage it dead, the FBT,the flyback transformer. The big black block of plastic with a red wire with a black cap that hook up to the CRT(tv tube) is dead. The FBT,flyback transformer needed it to be replaced to solved this problems.Call the shops, take estimates for the best deal to do the repair. This is one of the main part of the tv to put HV in CRT(tube tv).It pretty hard to find this FBT these day, because of the discontinue of making of Amalog tvs.
it may need a Flyback Transformer or a burnt capasitor and resistors. there are many posts with this same problem. Some a little different. Check the fuse just inside where the power supply cord goes in . if the fuse is blown you will have to find the reason it burned . But maybe you will be lucky and replace the fuse. And it will turn on. but I think that only a TV technician can fix the problem.I have a background on TV repair and I think it's the Flyback transformer. sometimes you canresolder them and they stay.
whenever fuse blows every time it is the indication of short circuit in tv.
so please do not put fuse unless you know the cause of blowing fuse.
these are the reasons of blowing fuse.
1 main filter cap.short.
2 rectifier diode short.
3 swithing transistor short
4 horizontal output transistor short
5 caps & diodes connected to flyback transformer short.
6 print short.
7 at last if every thing ok then flyback transformer defective.
hope this will help.
if you are not a tech person call skilled tech to fix it.
My thoughts would be, was it a Sony OEM transformer or a generic type? If the latter, that is probably a likely suspect. Another thing would be misplaced wires or switches that could have been accidently moved while replacing the transformer. I have had some of these sets that had no high voltage, and all it turned out to be was a broken solder connection on one of the pins going to the flyback transformer. Usually, if the flyback is bad, the Horizontal output transistor would be also defective. It's also possible that in the process of removing the old flyback (fun job wasn't it?) you may have cracked one or more of the circuit traces in that area of the PC board.
