Re: i got a big problem with my tv..

Did the technician said what was wrong with the transformer?(leaky)?,It might sound like air but is High voltage leaking from the top ,be very careful when proving around there and just get it change because is not repairable and dont use it or it will damage other components.

Troubleshooting tv problems

There are a lot of possibilities, so let's get rid of some:
1) Try to unplug (wait 5~10 seconds.) and then plug back in your TV, and any other equipment you may have hooked up to it. If you have switched video on your Home Entertainment center, a relay or switch might be stuck open. UNplugging everything and plugging it back in may clear that problem. (Turning it "On & Off" is not the same!)
2) Is your TV in the correct mode? If it is in PC or DVI mode when it should be in Cable TV mode, that can be problematic. (Also check game ports, etc. and verify they are not selected.)
3) IS your TV old enough to have a high voltage problem? Typically sound is from the low voltage part of the TV receiver, and on older TV's things like High Voltage rectifiers and flyback transformers get involved. If this is a possibility, replace the set. In the long run you'll be happier, ,even if it is inconvenient as $#@! to pay for a new one.
4) can you post the make and model just to help us figure it out?

No sound and picture

If you have the older TV with a CRT, here is my answer. By now this TV has a loose capacitor. The capacitor will not have any solder around the pin for a proper ground. Next, there may be a large power resistor that is not attached to the board as for the same reason as the capacitor mentioned. I have not repaired your TV model, but experience tells me what to do. You asked, so I'm sharing. These are just one of many grounds. You will need to solder the vertical IC, Horizontal transistor, horizontal transformer, flyback transformer etc. You will have to inspect the board for any and all solder grounds. Also, be sure to resolder the small board that is attatched to the CRT (pull this board off carefully and then solder). You should not have to purchase any parts, resoldering will bring it back to life.

I just want to know, what is the part number of flyback transformer on my teli panasonic TC-20P1.

Part number is required only if you are ordering with the company and here in this case you can specify the model number as the data base is available with them.
Otherwise the flyback/ line output transformer can be removed and taken to any spares shop to be identified for the replacement.

House has 4 tv points only one in use at any time tv arial is high gain and has a booster and fitted with 240 - 12 v 100 ma amp on incoming line vhf picture has wavy lines from left corner to right this...

If the power transformer to the amp is close to the coax you will get these wavy lines. The addition of a second load canjcels out the waves which is like a harminc frequency. Try plugging the transformer a little further away by using an extension powerboard to see if that helps you

Thanks for using FIXYA

Tv shows cloudy picture

What you said sounds like a focus problem. A focus proble is usually caused by a problem in the HV setion of the TV either in the IHVT or the HV transformer itself.
