Actually I have this TV and you need 2 Convergance IC's STK392-120's (120's and 150's will work) of course order 2 of the same type I'm using replacment 150's they allow for a little higher heat and were cheaper ALSO you need to replace the 12 resistors with 6.8 ohm metal film resistors, make sure they are metal film! dont skimp out here I did and then they blew and fried my IC's and I had to replace everything again!

Great reference link that I posted pictures on, check out page 3
http://www.techlore.com/forum/thread/16736/Magnavox-51MP392H-17-51-quot--TV-has-double-vision/

Where I dgot my parts that worked:
Suburban Electronics
http://www.suburban-elect.com/

What you need:
(2) STK392-120 OR STK392-150 IC chips
(12) 6.8 Ohm Metal Film resistors
set of star screw drivers
15 watt pencil soder pencil, DO NOT use a high watt iron you will fry the surface mounted item.
good leaded soder, and flux

BTW if you dont plan on trying this and are going to throw out the TV, I still need a IC convergance board for a 51MP392H/17 TV I'm fixing, I'm willing to pay S/H and $50.00 for a board thats not been tampered with. Edwinkraus@hotmail.com

Red and fuzzy picture can you help on my 50 inch phillips magnavox projection TV

This is a very common failure on Projection TV sets.
Screen looks 3D
Colors don't line up
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed or warped.
The other common problem is cloudy lens fluid. After many years the coolant in the blue and green lens will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, bright white, etc. You may even see halos around video.
You can see some example photos and find a solution here on Fixya.

Here's all I find regarding bad convergence from the techrepairCD:
RCA ~ITC222 D52W20~Convergence bad~~~ITC222~Replace leaky DL032 on
deflection board~~~~~~

RCA~D52W20Y ATC221~Convergence goes out/bowed after on for a few
minutes~~~ATC221~Problem may be on the deflection board. Was unable to
pinpoint where in this case.~~~~~~

RCA~D52W20BYX1 ITC222~Convergence way off after replacing small signal
board~EEPROMS were transferred over to new board~~~IK210 was
defective..transfer the new EEPROM back over.~Remember on these
sets*when replacing the SSB* if there is a small P on corner of
screen*hold volume on remote for 8 seconds after it reaches minimum.~~~~~

RCA~D52W20BYX1 ITC222~Can not align blue convergence* bottom really
bowed* possibly either color after replacing SSB.(Or no auto
convergence.~(Service menu: turn power off for 30 seconds* press vol dn
and ch dn* simultaneously for 8 seconds* set turns on with service menu
options)~~ITC222~In service menu* select convergence. If sensor
calibration was performed when convergence was too far off* it will not
alighn.~Get crosshatch with straight lines* perform sensor calibration*
then attempt convergence alignment again. Be sure to store settings*
then do sensor calibration again.~You must get a green flash of the
screen after sensor cal and a check in the box. RED flash indicated
convergence settings are too far off~~~~

RCA~D52W20BYX1 ITC222~no convergence correction~~~ITC222~LP650
(259271) DP670 (259246) & RP632 (259564) 4.7 3W on convergence power
supply board~~~~~~

The screen is starting to have red and green blurring

sounds like the coolant if it appears as halos. If it appears like a 3D picture its the convergence ICs.

Take the TV to a repair shop. It sounds like the convergence chips are bad. Be sure they change them as a pair or you'll wind up with the same problem again.

Blurry.....convergence problem???

Hello,

This denotes a convergence problem as you surmised. Believe it or not it would be cheaper for you to replace the two convergence amplifiers and the biasing resistors. You would not actually be replacing the convergence board since these devices are usually located on the deflection board in most cases. However in answer to your question, the boards are easily removed, depending on your level of patience (lots of cables to move around), I would also advise you to either mark down all of the connection you will remove, or take pictures of the board and its connectors. If you choose to just replace the Amplifiers and the biasing resistors there is a lot of information on this site on how to do so: This will get you started:

1) Unplug the TV and then get a schematic of the TV I use http://www.servicemanuals.net or http://www.manualsparadise.com
2) On the schematic locate the STK392-xxx series IC packs (usually attached to a large heat sink)
3) determine if the STK392s are 110, 120 or 150.
4) if the STK392-xxx's are 110s replace with 110s (forget that upgrade stuff it is a hit or miss game that I don't believe you want to get into), if they are 120s replace with 120s and so on.
5)Now to replace the STKs: remove the module from the TV and unsolder theold STKs along with the bias resistors, and replace them with the newones (be sure to apply heat sink paste to the STKs when attaching themto the heatsink)
6) make sure there are no short circuits form your soldering job.
7) Reinstall the module and then turn on the TV.
8) do an auto-convergence test and then things should be back to normal.

Now if you think you can do this have at it, if not I would suggest that you have it done by a qualified TV technician.

This is what is known as convergence. a projection tube ussally has three picture tubes.. red green blue. they all have to align. the concave picture indicates complete loss of convergence or convegence power supply. First question on these sets Do you have the convergence option in the customer menu under setup. if you do not this is a indication of the common "FL231 fuse problem" and inexpensive simple repair. I have wrote and artilcle on this under my tips and trick section. If you do have the option then next does autoconvergence work. in you case i would not think it work. under blue and red manual convergence does the crosshairs move. if not then this is indication of convergence power supply board. if they move at all this may indicate a convergence amplifer problem.

There is a mode these set run in that stretches the side so the screen is completely filled, this is so the people do not seem all fat and short, this mode is known as Panoramic, this is one of the screen settings you can choose, I believe your set has a 4X5 or normal mode, 16X9 and maby a 16X9 zoom, the panoramic and maybe one more, find the format button on the remote and cycle through them
