Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. If you purchase this yourself, you should look in the manual for operating instructions. You look at objects far away. Example: distant stars at night. If you work well with it you might be able to see far into the interstellar space, or seeing the space-shuttle after it's gone way up beyond the naked eye.
