I also have a Vaio, but a different model (VGN-AW11Z/B), and after using a Logitech LX6 wireless optical mouse, the touchpad stopped working..

I also used the mouse on my other notebook (Fujitsu-Siemens) and it did the same thing.

I've tried to re-install the touchpad driver, uninstalling the wireless mouse, but nothing helped.. Touchpad doesen't work now on both notebooks!

    Can somebody please help?

    Thanks!

I forgot to mention.. I'm using Vista on Sony Vaio amd XP on Fujitsu-Siemens..

And now a more wierd discovery.. I noticed that when I hold the laptop a little tilted or any position other than perfect horizontaly (on a table) the touchpad works, but when I put it on the table it stops responding..

This is from the Logitech website:
http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=194

You could also try upgrading to the latest version of SetPoint 3.3. That should help. Ensure that you have uninstalled the older version of setpoint first before installing the new version. Try a clean install.
Clean install for XP
Clean install for Vista (just substitute 'mouse' for 'camera' in the guide

Hope that helps!

not excatly sure but from the model you provided this what i found ...

take notice with sony vaio systems the model number can be tricky

is this the model number from the bottom or from the screen sometimes they don't match and i had to find one through the screen model numbers to get sony support because the number under is different and it won't find no driver but if researched in will trace back to sony it depends on the model used with that motherboard and system...

Hi ,i purchased my dell inspiron laptop recently.2 days onwards, touch pad is not working.could you please help me?

My dear friend this will usually be a problem with the function keys, you might have de-activated the touch pad. Try to check in the function keys and you may find a key with marking of touch pad usually it would be F4 so to activate it you need to Hold Fn+F4 key and try. It will sure work well and this is not a problem with the machine.

I have an Acer Aspire 5517. Just the other day, my touchpad and keyboard stopped working. What do I do?

1 . Look for Fn function key - Most laptops have this special key Fn that is next to the Ctrl key on the keyboard. It should have a blue or green color, easy to find.

2 . Look for F1 to F12 functions keys, they are on the top row of the keypad. Look for one has an icon that looks like the touch pad, which is to control the touch pad of your laptop. It maybe F8 or F9 depends on each make of your laptop. These function keys also control the brightness, sound, wireless etc.

3 . Now hold down the Fn key and the F10 key to enable the touch pad, in this example, the Toshiba laptops. You press them again to disable it

4 . If none of the above works, plug in an USB mouse, then check into the Control Panel -> touch pad or mouse configurations. Also, check Device Manager if the touch pad driver is installed and working properly.

Thanks.Have a great day.

My touchpad works but I cannot adjust its settings because since I reinstalled vista it seems not to recognise that I have one. The control panel has no reference to it.

You need to install a separate touch pad application using the driver cd which came with your computer.
If not having one, download the driver for touchpad from dell website for your laptop model and install it
after that you can get the application icon in the system tray using which you can configure your touch pad

I hope this is helpful to you

Trouble when typing on the keyboard on my sony vaio

The reason this is happening is that as you are typing; you're resting some weight on the thin plastic above the touchpad...which then makes contact and registers a 'click'; thus moving your cursor around.  Or you're brushing your thumb against it when hitting the space key.

Some laptops are more susceptible to this than others.  Some more modern laptops come with a button to turn the touchpad off to solve this very problem.

The only thing you can do about this is to disable the touchpad through the touchpad driver (down by the clock, usually) and use a mouse instead.  Depending on how you use your laptop, this will be more or less inconvenient- if your laptop never leaves the desk; disable the touchpad and use a mouse...no problem.  If you go mobile a lot, you'll have to enable and disable the touchpad all the time.

The other thing you can do is adapt your typing style so you don't put any weight on anything but the key you're pressing.  This is quite difficult and uncomfortable, and is not recommended for long sessions.

Sony viao vgn-fe790 touch pad suddenly went dead - cursor will not move. Any ideas??

Do you have the recoovery CDs/ If not then go to
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNFE790
and download the drivers for the touch pad and install it. It could verywell be a corrupted driver.

Touchpad Not Working

is there a touch pad 'switch' off function with this particular model? Some Acer machines have an F number plus another key to de-activate/reactivate touch pad. Check your Manual

Cursor skips lines while typing

My experience: cursor suddenly moving backward when i was typing, or moving somewhere else on the page. I would be typing and text suddenly would get highlighted. I followed someone's advice to disable the touch pad. Since I do have a mouse & key pad that was all i had to do.
HOW TO DISABLE THE TOUCHPAD FOR ACER 3680 AND OTHERS??? PRESS Fn +F7
Yep, it was that simple. At first I made sure i typed without my fingers or palms touching or near the touchpad. I noticed it seemed to stop or happen less. Soon as I disabled the touch pad all is back to normal. Yet I spent hrs trying to find out how and there were all these posts by people suggesting downloads and other more complicated things etc..
