Question about Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital ELPH / IXUS 65 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Canon sd630 I have the SD630 and it just stopped in th emiddle of taking pictures and the lens is out. No signs of power. The batter is fully charged and I did check the door switch by manually depressing it while pressing power button -no success. What would it cost to get this fixed?

I also have a Canon Rebel that stopped working because of a CF bent pin which caused a "no power" condition (when it rains it pours!). I believe it happened when my wife bought a Lexar 2gb flash card. It happened right after she started usign that (I read others had similar bouts with these cards). I wonder if there is any recourse with them on this problem??

ANyways, can you repair this camera as well? How much do you think that would cost? I would like a min/max for both. If it is acceptable - I will send them out for repair ASAP.

Believeit or not - I had let the camera sit for a couple days without the battery or memory card. I was just getting ready to send it in for repairs and inserted the battery to include in the package when the camera powered on!

WHY would this happen? The camera seems to operate normally now again. It wasn't bumped or "persuaded" it all. Can someone explain?

Hi

Sounds like it would need the fuse replaced, about $35 if we can do it.. some of them are very hard to get at or solder. If that doesnt work it would need a new mainboard, $85 if I can get one used.

My canon power shot sd630 fell down and the lens does not function.it says lens error, restart camera.where shall I take it for repair and how much it costs to repair

You could try you local electrical or photo retailer but I'd get a quote first. I don't intend to be rude but its likely the repair could cost more than the camera is worth.

Canon PowerShot SD630 turn off itself AND could not turn on again

since its been two years you have bought the cam either your battery is down or you might have dropped your cam down which had damaged the lens array!!!
try replacing the battery and if it works its an happy ending of the problem.but if it still doesn't work then you have to replace the lens array!
any way i suggest you to take your cam to a "pro" since only physical examination has the best analysis of the problem

PowerShot SD630 lens stuck out, says lens error, restart camera

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

I need HELP

Dear ashlyw:

A lens error due to impact damage most often requires service.
If you get an E18 message or a "lens error restart camera" message on your LCD screen and you restart the camera several times to no avail, you will almost certainly need to call Canon Tech Support at 1-800-828-4040 and have it sent in for service as there is little or nothing you can do to resolve the issue.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB

Canon Power Shot 630 Digital Camera

Hey kara M,
Before you take it in for service I would try taking the batteries out for a while and then putting them back in. Often this resets the camera and resolves the issue.

Sincerely,

Fuzzy, cloudy pictures

As basic as it sounds, is the lens dirty? The tiny surfaces of digital cameras' lenses really affect image quality. Also check the image quality setting to ensure you're shooting at a high quality setting.
