Question about Kenmore 43042 Front Load Washer
If the load in the tub is light enough or even if the tub is empty, the washer will aggitate, drain and spin and complete the wash cycle as it is supposed to, I i put a heavier load, such as 5 large towels, the motor attempts to aggitate, but is unable to turn the tub. On observation, the pulley will do multiple attempts to turn, but only turns about 1/2 a turn with each attempt . It then reverses direction for the next attempt to aggitate the clothes; however if assist the drum during these attempts, it will turn the number of turns as it should in that aggitation motion. It's as if the motor is just not strong enough to turn the towels along with the water in the tub.
Do i need to replace the motor or is there something else that needs to be checked or changed. I used the schematic from the envelope below the tub. The problem with that is that the wire color coding of the plug that goes into the harness did not seem to match the color code on the schematic. The trouble shooting guide for "the motor won't turn" doesn't seem to fit my problem because, if i just provide a little assistance to get the drum to turn in either the aggitation or spin mode it will continue and complete the cycle.
Can anyone help me?

Sounds like you have a broken motor coupling , empty the unit , tilt it back against something so you can get a good look under it , the motor is in the middle of the pump[front side] and the gear case[back side] the shaft comes out of both ends of the motor , look for the part that connects the motor and the gear case , it is a small round rubber and plastic piece with prongs , all of the prongs have most likely broke off. , replace this and it should be fine. let me know if you have any other questions.

Check your motor drive coupler. Tilt washer back against wall and look between motor and transmission . You will see a rubber grommet and two plastic couplers on each end of rubber , They may appear broken or you will see rubber shavings under washer.
