I appreciate your post, Mike!

Based off what you have described your Frigidaire washer motor will hum and not start. In order to test each component you would need to have the proper electrical equipment. I would recommend contacting a professional technician for proper repairs. They will have the necessary equipment needed to complete your repair. Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt

Will not run just a quite hum when you push the button to run

The hum you hear is most likely the motor turning, and the motor is not able to turn the drum because the belt has broken.

Mid-tone loud hum while dryer is running. drum is can hear the clothes falling inside. They dry well. It is just that hum that came last week, and is now louder than it was.

HI- if everything is operating ok it could be that the dryer cabinet is just getting loose somewhere. When its running try pressing on the top, sides and back to see if you can get it to stop. There could also be something in the blower wheel that is causing imbalance and the hum. Less likely is a motor issue. Good luck

My dryer makes a humming noise and is not working. Is this a major problem or something I can fix on my own?

does it hum and then quit? if so it's probably an issue with the motor. if it continues to hum it could be the motor running which would indicate the belt is broken.

When we push the on button, you can hear a hum,

Sounds like the belt that turns the drum has broken. the hum sound is the motor turning. Does it still get hot in the drum? If so then you need a replacement belt ($15-$25).You can open the rear or the dryer to confirm the belt is broken. Be sure to unplug from the wall outlet to avoid electrical shock.

Humming noise and doesn't run

More than likely the belt has slipped off and the noise you hear is the motor running without the belt. It is not a tough fix mentally, but it can be quite a difficult do-it-yourself task. Good luck.
