Hi, Remove the disc from the DVD tray then try pressing the PALl/NTSC button on the remote control three times. If the picture does not return, then you might accidently press the P.Scan button as well. Press the P.Scan button on the remote control three to four times, you should get the picture back. Dont forget to make sure you do not have a disk in the tray. Let me know the outcome so that I can further assist you. Thanks, MIke

- Hi Again,

Looks like we will need to get into details regarding the connection so that we can fix the problem.
You have a setting issue so we will have to find a way to reset the unit back to the factory setting.
Does your remote control have a P.Scan Button?

Also, are you using the component ( Blue Green and Red ) cable or the composite ( Yellow Red and White) cable?

Thanks,
Mike

- Hi Again,

I am glad to hear that you have the setup screen " i did try 'setup' again and it still look distorted near the top of the screen...could barely read the menu". I did not realize you were able to get the setup screen even if you could barely see it. Base on your complaint, I gathered you had no picture at all. That is good news if you have the setup menu.

Lets swap the cable, use the Yellow video cable.
Unplug the S-Video cable from the back of the DVD player.
Insert the Yellow Video cable in the back of the DVD player where it read video out.
Connect the other end of the yellow cable in the back of your televsion ( input 1).
Set your television to that corresponding input line ( input 1).

Let me know if you can see the setup menu ( barely or clearly).

Thanks,
Mike H.

- Hi There Again,

I am glad to hear that we were able to fix the problem.
Thanks for the well deserve cup of coffee, I can use it.

The reason for the s-video cable is. ..When the unit is set to P.Scan, the S-Video cable is not fast enough to process the signal. Being to slow for the P.Scan cause the S.Video to delay all functions for 2-4 seconds. Using the Yellow Video cable, it automatically does not accept any P.Scan signal which is why instantly you can cycle through the input line without any delay ( Yellow video, to S. Video, to Component).

I hope the explanation makes sense. I try to simplify it as best as I can.
If you need any addtional help, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
Mike H.

Good Morning,

Your connection is very easy so we should not have a problem isolating the problem.
We just have to go slow step by step.

First lets just check the Yellow cable just to be on the safe to side sure it is connected properly on the back of the DVD player and on the Televison.

Second, If the connectionn is secured. Turn the DVD player on, make sure you do not have a disc in the tray then turn the DVD player off.

Make sure the battery on the remote control is a fresh new battery (process of eliminattion).
Hold the remote control in front of the DVD front panel.
Turn the DVD player on with the remote control. Look on the front panel of the DVD player, it should read no disc. Press the Pro.Scan button "once". (Have you notice a flickering on the Television Screen).

If no flickering on the TV screen, press the Pro.Scan button again, ( this will be the second time). Have you notice the flickering?

If not, press the Pro.Scan button again ( third time). Have you notice a flickering on the TV screen?

Did you not notice on the LED of the DVD player if it read anything when you pressed the Pro.Scan button?
Try the above procedure again if your picture did not resume. If the picture resume in black and white, do not press the Pro.Scan button anymore.

Let me know the outcome up to this point.

Thanks,
Mike H.
