Wireless internet and tuner

Okay if you get a expresscard and you have the wireless internet and the same cable company do you still have to plub a cable into the laptop to watch tv. Thats what I want to avoid as I do not have cable hook up in this room and I want a tv there sometimes.

Yes and no. If you want all the channels of your cable company the card must be hooked up to a wall outlet for the cable. If you dont mind only getting the over the air channels you can use the antenna

You need to have a tv tuner to be able to watch tv. If the express card you have is a tv tuner, you'll have to run a cable from the laptop to your cable tv connection or set top box. You can't do it over the internet.

Hi chandru4ni
If you have a video or dvd recorder , connect it to the scart or analog output , using the recorder tuner . It might work . I'm afraid there is no other way in your situation .

My computer doesn't detect the tuner.

Right click My Computer and click properties. Go to hardware tab and then the device manager. Check if there is a yellow mark against any entry. If there is then it may be your new expresscard. Right click this entry and update driver pointing where the driver is.

Play & Record VHS through TV Tuner Card

You need to connect the ariel to the vcr, then the vcr to the card, using a male/female fly lead. Then I suggest putting an origional film tape into the vcr, press play on the vcr and then scan in the channels on the card. It should pick up the vcr's output of the film that is playing.

There are 6 gold prongs that come together at the end of the cable that plugs into the express card...use a fingernail or sharp object to delicately bend each one of these outward just a tiny bit. This will make a more snug fit.

A TV card probably wont be able to tune it in...or decode(decrypt) it for that matter. Is a CableTv set top box plugged in? (the box your cable company supplies you with) -damian
