Try turning the computer off. Otherwise the printer should reset the sensor itself. Otherwise there might be some paper left in the machine. Keep taking it apart (without removing screws) until you are sure all the paper is out. Re post if problem remains.

Copier jamming/copy printing sideways

If it jams every copy then it sounds like the paper tray size is not programmed properly. This is also why the print is the wrong direction on the page. So the copier thinks it has 8.5X11 loaded like this > -- and instead it is loaded like this > |
I hope that makes sense. So this not only causes the print to be the wrong direction but since the paper dimension are different that what the machine expects then it throws the sensor timing off and results in a paper jam. So just open your paper trays and check the paper size dials in the trays to make sure they match the paper size AND direction of the paper loaded into that tray.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

There is a paper jam below the sliding lid -

I suggest opening the right cover to remove paper jammed internally. There is a lengthy document at Canon support for your model: (you need to input your problem into the search box - ie. "ERROR LCD: Paper Jam" and click Search button).

My canon MP620 Paper Jam Pull out the Jam Paper Al

There are pieces of paper stock on the sensor, when the paper jam happened then you pull out the paper did you get the whole page of the paper or have missing pieces? open the paper guide, turn off and on the printer and observe the unusual objects in the roller, this error is caused by objects in the sensor.

Paper jams right before it exits copier

If the plate looks solid, then it's probably right where it should be. It sounds like a sort of ramp that feeds the paper into the fuser.
Start with the paper itself. Make sure it is in the machine properly. Here is a short guide on a few things to check:

Paper jam on the ouy feed roolers

outfeed? u mean the fixing assembly?? where the paper gets warmed?? u need to unmount the panel, open the cartridge cover and unscrew. the slide panel and carefully unplugged the flat cable.
then you need to remove the platten glass. remove left small cover and then remove platten glass. remove the black cover besides the scanner. now remove the left covers, all of them, and unplug the fixing assembly. they are at least two connectors that go right to the power supply board. now you need to unscrew the fixing assembly, see the top of the recently uncover top, you must see two holes, thru them you should see screws, two on one side and one on the other, unscrew them, and then you will finallly release the fixing assembly. now that you got it out remove the plastic cover if it's there and then remove the two screws that has one on each side, now rmeove the metallic cover, you may need to unlock a little metal locks on the sides, push or pull depending situation and then finally free the unit from its cover. at this point you must be really able to remove all the jammed paper. clean up with pressurized air if possible. now that is paper free you need to mount everything back as original. good luck!!

Won't copy document through feeder.

When you say it won't copy, do you mean that the paper won't move in the feeder or that no copies come out? Do you get any error messages? Try using alcohol on a swab or lint free cloth and clean the feed rollers in the feeder. They sometimes get paper dust on them and they can't pick up the paper. Also make sure that any paper sensors that detect when paper is in the feeder are intact. Occasionally they get stuck or broken. Hope this works.
