ruben, the PS1 is the only system created with the capability of adding a mod chip. When they first came out, the PS1Generation 1(PSX)could play burned games and DVD's. Sony discovered that it created an issue with the excessive wear of the cd drive, so they recalled the system. Then they re-released it and it couldn't play DVD's anymore. The PS2 could already play DVD so it has no mod chip function.
With this symptom, the lens that reads your cds needs cleaning. If you have a cd cleaner, go and play it on your ps1 for like 30 seconds. It this still does not work, you can open your ps1's cover and manually clean the lens. You will be needing a soft ear bud damped in an alcohol and gently wipe the lens surface. Also if you have a blower, you can blow those dust off. It would also help to clean those cds.
It should play Cd, Cdr, and DVD as well. If it will play PS2 and ps1, it should have not problem playing the other three. If your discs are dirty that was cause it not to read. If its more can you please expand on what is happening.
Yes, you have a disc problem. Some PS1 games have audio MP3 , or WAV files on them, and poor reading sometimes will pick up the audio tracks and not the Game data. You could be having a Laser alignment issue, but if other PS1 games are working fine, you do not.
Your question is somewhat confusing, using a playstation 2 memory card, will have PS2 game saves on it, how would you play PS2 games on a PS1 from the save, you can't.
If you just mean you are using a PS2 card for a PS1, the way a PS2 card saves data is different to a PS1 card, so it probably won't work
You can use your PS1 memory cards in the PS2. You can only use the PS1 memory cards to save PS1 games that you are playing in your PS2. You can't save any PS2 game data to a PS1 memory card
