Uninstall Nero * and see if the problem persist. If it doesn't then it is Nero.
If the problem is still there after removing Nero, Go to Start > Control Panel > System >Hardware > Device Manager. The click the + sign on the DVD/CD drive. Right click and click uninstall. the restart the laptop.
Let me know.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Disk drive door wont open. LED light comes on an hums, but tray wont eject to open. Where is manual eject hole located?

Below the drive tray there is a tiny hole, straighten a paper clip and gently insert the paper clip into this hole. Push the paper clip and the tray will release and pop out, then pull the tray out to the fully open position.

Cannot eject DVD drive

on the dvd drive below the tray normally on the right hand side there is a little hole get a pin or something to fit the hole and insert it into it while doing this the disk tray should manually open this should allow you to get your disk out :)

My disc won't eject and there's no hole for paperclip.

If your DVD Drive came with the computer originally your DVD Drive should have an emergency eject hole.

Kindly check the emergency eject hole just on top of the eject button you will see there a hole where you can poke using a paper clip.

Toshiba Satellite P15 Series..disk drive not working

usually when your cd/dvd/burner drive no longer reads or properly write, (when you can't read the cd is when you put a cd in the tray but nothing comes up when you try to open the drive within the folder and you know that the cd is not blank. there's no actual way around the fact of drive may have died, usually this parts may be replaceable but replacing a disk drive in laptop is costly (no much the part which could run for 40-50 dollars but the actual labor replacing it (100-150 dollars), I suggest ebay for part search.
the actual solution is to: 1. accept the loss 2. use a portable cd/dvd/burner unit through usb ports.
unfortunately there's no bios o driver updates that can be suggested that may address the problem your are having but in case you may want to try an driver or bios update this is the website to go to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=556036&rpn=PSP10U&modelFilter=P15-S470&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663
good luck!

Installed a new dvd burner for Hp computer. Running Windows XP. Installed Nero 8 Software. Door doesn't always open when button is pushed or after burning a dvd. Computer also has another cd/dvd drive....

it has to do with a new hardware installation process....check IDE cable that they are correctly connected and try to check system setup so that the CMOS identifies both, primary & secondary devices....if not, u need to install a driver for the newly installed one....

Cd drive

1.If the keyboard has a CD/DVD Eject key, press it. The Eject key is usually placed by the volume knob and is marked by a triangle pointing up with a line underneath.
2.Double-click My Computer .
3.Right-click the icon for the CD, CDRW, or DVD drive that is stuck, and then click Eject.
4.If the CD or DVD drive door button is a long clear plastic bar on the front of the PC, press firmly on the right side of bar. Some models have a button on the front panel of the PC to the right of the hinged door. Press the button to eject the drive.
5.If the drive door button is part of the PC case and is covering the actual drive door, open the door that is part of the PC case and press the Eject button on the faceplate of the drive.
6.Restart the PC and press the Eject button on the front of the drive when the first screen appears (before Windows launches). If the drive door opens this way but does not open in Windows, another software program is taking control of the CD driver. Try shutting down or configuring any software programs that create discs or monitor the CD or DVD drive.
7. If the door still does not open, do the following:
1.Close all programs and shut down the PC.
2.Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
3.Look for the small hole on the faceplate of the CD or DVD drive. This is the manual release. The location of the manual release hole will vary (see Figures below for possible locations).
NOTE: On some models it may be necessary to remove the front panel to expose the manual release hole. Check the documentation that came with your PC for information about removing the front panel.
a43f7ec.gif
NOTE: On some models the release hole and the drive activity LED look similar and are about the same size. Do not force the paperclip into the hole if it does not go in. Make sure that the hole is not actually the LED.
Figure 1: Possible location of manual release hole

fc01587.gif
4.Straighten the paperclip and insert it into the manual release hole until resistance is felt.
5.Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the drawer opens a little.
6.Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.
7.Remove the CD and turn on the PC.
8.If the tray still does not open, do the following steps to check the power cable for the drive. Work on a hard flat surface over a non-carpeted floor:
WARNING: The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any edge of the computer's interior metal.
CAUTION: This product contains components that are easily damaged by ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (like a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap that is connected to a grounded surface (like the metal frame of the PC).
1.Turn off the PC.
2.Unplug all power cords from the back of the PC.
3.Press and release the Power button on the front of the computer.
4.Remove the side panel.
0a38994.gif
5.locate the power cord that connects to the back of the CD or DVD tray that is having the problem.
16b393a.gif
6.Unplug the power cable and wait five seconds.
7. Find a different power cable that is not being used, plug the different power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket. If a different power cable is not available, replug the original power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket.
8.Replace the side panel and plug in the power cord.
46fff89.gif
9.Turn on the PC and press the eject button on the front of the drive.
If the optical drive does not have the manual eject feature and the CD tray will not open by using the steps in this document or if a disc has shattered inside the drive, the CD, CDRW, DVD drive may need to be replaced.
