Verify that the Logitech webcam is connected to your computer
if your computer doesn't register its existence, if the webcam's power
light isn't glowing or if no image shows on your webcam software. The
webcam's USB cord should be firmly inserted into an open USB slot. For
the best results, use a USB port on your computer instead of a port on
a peripheral device like a USB hub or a keyboard.
your room's lighting if the Logitech webcam image is excessively dark.
Logitech's cameras have no built-in light. For the best viewing image,
your light source should come from behind the Logitech webcam instead
of shining into the webcam's lens.
any open programs other than the software that's using the Logitech
webcam if you get errors regarding more than one program trying to use
the camera (e.g., a chat software and a voice-over-IP program both
trying to use it at once). This can create data problems and software
for updates to your Logitech drivers from Logitech's support site. The
company regularly releases software updates and patches that resolve
commonly encountered glitches and problems. Download the patch and
double-click it to initiate an automated installation process. Your
computer typically needs to be restarted before you can resume use of
the Logitech device.
Contact Logitech's webcam support line at 646-454-3209 if you still cannot get your webcam to work
correctly. Support technicians are available weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6
p.m. PST and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST. Have
your model and 10-digit part number ready. Such numbers are usually
located on the bottom of the webcam or on its packaging.
found the following link for the Quickcam Zoom 8.4 software, but it shows that it only supports Windows 98, ME, 2000, and Xp ... there are no supported drivers/software for Vista or Windows 7. So if that is what is on your new PC then you will most likely need to get a new Cam or Contact Logitech directly to see if they have plans on releasing software for this cam for newer operating systems.
The model number is on a tab on the webcam lead next to the USB plug. Failing that, visit the Logitech website and identify your webcam from the photo gallery ( non current webcams on page 2 ) look for the link at bottom of page 1 "Still cant find your webcam" http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/405/&cl=us,en?prodcrid=405 If you need software - click on the webcam picture to start the support for that model
