Try this link it's the direct link the 8100 realtek 10/100 drivers the one you need should be the top one for xp. This is the actual driver for the card not a scan tool.

How to add an exception to your Windows Firewall - XP, Vista and 7

Windows Firewall protects your computer by blocking communications (i.e., bugs and malicious software) attempting to connect to your computer. Sometimes, Windows Firewall will block a program that you use from connecting to the Internet. If you are experiencing this problem, but you are still able to browse the Web (demonstrating that it's not a general problem with your Internet connection), you can add a Windows Firewall exception for the program that's having problems. This will allow you to use that program without Windows Firewall blocking it.

Setup Steps - Windows XP

  1. Click Start. Click All Programs and find the program that you want to add an exception for. Then right-click the program and click Properties.

  1. On Shortcut tab in the Properties dialog box, right-click the Target box, and then click Copy.

The Realtek EAPPkt Protocol Service failed to start

Try this..1.Try to uninstall the USB adapter and re install it again. To do this go to Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel and find the usb adapter your install in this case its Alfa Wireless USB Adapter and uninstall it and restart your computer after uninstallation. 2. Remove the USB adapter while restarting and insert it again until windows already loaded and all windows startup program have all been started.
3. System will look for the system driver of USB adapter and it will prompt you for the driver location in this window do not choose the recomended instead click browse and locate the driver cd and look for driver folder and select the applicable driver for your operating system such as WinXP if your using XP.
4. If there is no driver folder in cd, go to my computer, explore cd and run setup or install this will install the pending driver installation.

Hi,
The chat got diconnected, apologise for the same. Some times that chat tool acts up.
What we need to do to help you resolve the problem is to uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver.
1. Connect the ,laptop to the wireless router using a network cable. So that we have stable internet connection
2. Click on start and go to control panel, open Add or remove programs
3. Uninstall Intel Pro wirelss and click uinstall
4. Restart your computer
5. Download the updated driver for the wireless connection from the following website
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62875

Save the file on your desktop: 7kwc50ww.exe
6. Double click on the file and install. Reconfigure the wireless settings
and it should work fine

Have realtek 8185, vista, keeps loosing signal

Go to the Device manager and bring up the properties to the realtek 8185 device. There is a tab called Power Management. Click on this tab. There is a checked checkbox that says Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Uncheck this box. This should stop the random disconnects.
