Question about Insignia Sport MP3 Player

1 Answer

Insignia sport 4 gig wont organize by artist

My Insignia says the artists are unknown so it just has like 600 and some odd songs in order alphabetically and numerically when I plug it into the computer and open the folder to view the files it shows all the artists as their own folders with all their songs in the correct folders...how do I get the artists to show up on the mp3 player?

Posted by on

  • also all the songs I have in the folders on the computer don't show up on the mp3 player...sorry if this isn't the right place to add more of problem...but just signed up

  • k so, I fixed the unknown artist issue myself... I'm not exactly sure how I got the songs on there the first time, but what I did was this...copied all the songs from the insignia to the computer deleted the songs off of the insignia took the song files into windows media player made some edits like making all the artists match so instead of having ten Scorpions songs and two scorpions songs I changed the lower case to an upper case...just to make it look more neat...then rather than taking all the songs back to files and putting them onto the insignia I just dragged them straight to the insignia in "my computer"...but now I have an issue I doubt I can solve I'll post that somewhere else.

You will need to right click on the song file to see if the ID3 information is present.

Right-click, Properties, Summary tab.

You shoudl see a list of fields that you can populate manually, or you can try loading your audio files into a media manger program like iTunes, Media Monkey, WMP, etc and insure your song titles and album names are correct in the ID3 tag fields. Then, your files will appear correctly on your player.

Hope this helps!

I can hear my music that I've had downloaded onto

You should reset your player. Go to the Settings menu, then System, then Reset Settings. You may wish to erase the current contents of the player and perform a new sync. Remember to back up your files first if needed! More details can be found in the owner's manual.

All of my songs changed to author unknown how do I change it back?

Plug into computer and choose open as folder file. You can simply change the names on the folders. It happens alot when you download songs that don't have artist in the properties of the file. You can also go into the folders and change the titles of the songs when they're wacky,mis-named,or mis-spelled, or just too long.

Downloading music

Insignia players come with Rapsody on the CD. However, Insignia mp3 players can use the generic mass storage driver in almost any computer. When you plug in the USB cord, two extra drive letters will show up in Windows Explorer. Songs go into the Music folder. For neatness: Make new folder for each artist and under each artist, make a new folder for each album.

Also slight chance the USB mode got off of Automatic in the player's options.
