Question about RCA DRC8030N

Drc8030n Motherboard Hi, do you still have a motherboard for the drc8030n RCA 80g?... How much?... I tried everything but that... At first, within 3 month from buying the DVR, I had to change the fan inside. Half of my recordings disappeared and the whole thing was working weird. I looked at the unit and it was real hot. After changing the fan and let the thing cool, every recording reappeared and everything went back to normal. I appreciate your help. Thanks...

Thank you GSAN. My zip code is 35096. I'll send payment as soon as you give me a quote... Let me ask you something else. Do you know where to find some DVD burners for parts? All I'm interested in is the burner laser unit. I don't care if it's all busted up, as long as the laser unit has not been tampered with. Let me know if I need to make a new thread for that... Thank you so very much GSAN, I can't wait to have my DVR fixed, my Daughter and I have tons of recordings we're dying to watch. Thanks, have a wonderful day...

Fantastic! I would appreciate if you could get a shipping quote with and without the DVD-RW, (if it isn't too much trouble) to see if it makes much of a difference. If it add too much, it may not be worth it. These things can add up sometimes. But I'm definitely interested. Thanks to you too for your quick replies. I can see why you have such great feedback.

Please send everything through USPS Priority Mail with Insurance. That's 18.00 plus 11.50 equals 29.50. I just sent the payment. Thank you so very much. I'm hoping this fixes it. Let me know if you have any more dvd rw laser units. I'd like for this one to be complete, defective and hopefully causing the "Hello" problem. I swapped mine and it didn't fix it, that's why I want a motherboard. I'd like to research and find a fix for the DVD RW problem. You'd be the first one to know if and when I do. The other lasers I'm looking for is only for the laser diode responsible for burning DVDs. I'm experimenting with burning laser and I need some powerful ones. Thanks again. Have a great day.

Thank you so much for sending me those parts, and an extra thanks for the extras. Which happens to be what I needed to fix my problem. You won't believe it... I got your well-packaged parts today. I soon replaced the Motherboard, no change, still the same HELLO... I was so deceived... Then, I decided to replace the Power Supply, just in case... IT WORKED!... (thanks for sending me a free power supply)... Looking at my power supply, I can see that on the printed circuit under those 3 diodes, near the transformer, is an area that seems to have overheated. I will test it and give you the results eventually, as well as the results and solution if I can fix the DVD burner. I'll use the extra fan you so generously gave me to cool the power supply, seems like it won't hurt. Though I have to place it right, or it'll make the problem worse... Seems like anything wrong with this DVR and all it'll do is display HELLO... I've heard of a bad DVD Burner, a bad Motherboard and now a bad Power Supply that causes the HELLO... Thank you so very much GSAN, you did it... I recommend you to everyone out there for your fairness, kindness and devotion. We should call you Mr. FixYa!...

Hi. I do have a motherboard for the DRC8030N RCA DVR. I would say $10 plus shipping. Shipping will be via UPS Ground. I do sell online at Amazon and Ebay and have 100% feedback. You can send payment via paypal to Shipping will depend on your location but it will be about $8 for a 1Lb package. I will also include a fan so you can have a spare.

Yess indeed! I do have a laser unit in the whole DVD-RW untouched unit. What happens is that the DVR starts saying Hello and that is all. The most common way to remedy this issue is by swapping out the DVD-RW drive or just the mother board on the DVD-RW drive ( I am guessing it is a micro fuse that gives out in these DVD-RWs but without the schematics then it is simply my guess). So I do have an untouched DVD-RW drive with the HELLO issue. I can have the motherboard, DVD-RW drive, fan and an IDE cable all about we leave it at $18 plus shipping? I will have a quote for you within 24 hours ( I have a full college day today and wont be able to pack and weigh till morning). Thanks for your speedy replies.

Hi. I checked the following at UPS.COM for a package originating from zip 79902 to zip 35096: UPS rounds to the highest pound.

    Without DVD-RW at 2Lbs is $13.26

With the DVD-RW (internal frame with gears, laser component etc..) at 3Lbs is $13.85

With DVD-RW (the whole unit) at 4Lbs is $14.39

Or I can ship it via USPS Priority mail using a flat rate box to ship everything at $9.50 without insurance or $11.50 with insurance. Thanks.

the DVD Drive is bad. Replace it with the same (which I haven't been able to find anywhere on the internet) or one off the shelf (a little jerry-rigging is involved) and it will work. Everything else should be fine. This exact same thing happened to me.

RCA DRC8030N No output

Connect the unit as you normally would using the composite cables. Once you turn the unit on and the RCA logo flashes and then the video *poof*, dissappears, press the Video Out button on the remote control so that the PS OFF (progressive output for S-Video) is shown on the LCD, this should get the video back to normal.

These are few checks to carryout one after the other for troubleshooting purpose

1. The first thing check the power supply out with multimeter to make sure the power supply is outputting the required voltage especially to the motherboard otherwise it wont work.

2. If everything checks out continue to ensure that you are connect the power supply to the motherboard correctly.

3. Again, if the problems continues ensure that the the monitor is connected firmly to the motherboard, via whatever means it being connected.

4. Ensure that the cache battery on the motherboard is good again using a multimeter.

5. Secure some memory you know are working and place them within the motherboard and get it a try. Or, place the memory you are using within the working PC to see if they are working. Keep in mind that the memory modules should be compatiable, i.e. PC100 memory module within a motherboard tha use such memory.

Hi. I recenlty fixed a unit with the same problem and I had to replace the motherboard. I could not get the remote to do a darn thing and the front pannel buttons would not do a thing either. Before going to the extreme, and if you still have functionality via the front pannel buttons, try to reset/format the unit. Keep in mind that this will erase everything on the hard drive. While in the main menu and with no DVD disk inside, press and hold the play and open buttons for about 7 seconds until you get the FORMAT message on the LCD. If this does nothing to leviate your problem, then replacing parts will be needed. I do have plenty of mother boards and hard drives left and would not mind selling them. Thanks.
