Sorry Michael, you have a problem in the audio amp section of the receiver and unless you know how to troubleshoot solid state electronics, you will need to have this unit serviced by a pro. Good Luck
What do you mean by "sound programming"? -- I guess it's the ability to change the sound processing, such as from Stereo to Dolby Digital, or to Dolby Pro Logic or Virtual Surround, etc.? Maybe there's a "Direct" or "Pure" or "Tone Control Defeat" button that was pushed, which often (or always!) bypasses all the sound-processing circuits? Check the front panel and/or your remote for such a button and try that. If it's a DVD player, it may be that the audio connections were accidently pulled or changed. Assuming it's the latter (more likely): Either the digital/analog output setting of the DVD player or the setup of the receiver could have been changed. Next, this is a guess, but most likely, it is the receiver that was tweaked -- in order to listen to some other source (such as the tuner), and it is no longer set up to process the digital signal, but stays in analog mode -- AND there's no analog audio connection from the DVD player (or it was not set-up to output analog to the receiver, since the preferred signal is digital surround). Am I getting warm?
make sure input mode selector on the front is set to either analog or or digital. For example if the sound input from the dtv/cable is analog and you have it set to digital, you will get no sound. Change it to analog. This happens to me when using my crappy dvd/vhs player and I have a vhs playing (analog). Hope this helps...
Couple of possibilities:
Press Audio Select on front of unit until "Analog" changes to "coax/opt"
or
When you select the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks as the input source (see page 38), this unit automatically
turns off the digital sound field processor, and you cannot select sound field programs.
Select different modes on the remote or front panel and make sure all speaker that you have hooked up are showing on display. Are the Lt & Rt channels at least playing audio? If you want, i can step you thur some steps to try in live chat if you want today. Let me know as i have experience in this area! Sincerely Guru Jay
