Hi, I think the problem lies with your bios setting. Set the POST to first boot from the CD/DVD drive. If it is set to first boot from the CD/DVD drive, then the problem comes from the disk. It might not be a bootable disk. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks, Mike H

Hello here are the homepages:

Here are the other model ( version 3,1 )

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=548&CategoryID=1&MenuID=16&LanID=9

This is important when the drivers needed to be found.

But here seems to be no drivers for windows 7.

Here is only drivers for vista and xp, and there is absolutely no guaranty, the drivers will work on windows 7.

You need to setup the bios boot settings, in order to boot from the drive.
First boot device dvd drive, and second the harddrive.
This selection is urgent, when installing windows.

Other selections maybe needed, depending on the bios version.
The sata drive, should be shown in the bios main meny, when entering the bios.

I suggest you to download the manual, if you don`t have it, and read the setup install section, for basic boot procedure.

Best of luck

Sata on k7vt4a-pro. wont boot into windows with any dvd drive in sata plug.does motherboard support sata dvd drives

Hi,

not usually No.
You need to setup the Pc with an IDE drive First. Then load The Sata drivers, usually on the setup CD. ( obtained with motherboard )
Alternative, is to create a SATA/Raid boot Disk et,c.

SATA drive not detected

If you will be loading xp on the new drive,You will just need to press F6 during the setup when ask if you want to install 3rd party driver, and follow the instruction and put the SATA driver disk in when ask.(Even during xp setup It will say SCSI device until all the drivers for it are loaded)

I cant install vista OS on this MBD , by sata HDD

You must enter setup at boot and select the CD/DVD as first boot. Then ensure that the BIOS settings have SATA enabled. When CD/DVD is first boot watch the screen for 'press any key to boot from cd' message is displayed. The boot screen will say how to enter setup. Typical buttons are F2, Delete, F1, F10 -you did not say which manufacturer. OEM trumps mobo maker with BIOS setup.

When install windows from CD it comes up down the bottom of the screen with a "Press F6 to Specify Additional Devices" or something like that. If you press F6 then it will ask you at a later stage of the setup to provide a Floppy Disk with drivers for the unknown hardware.

If you go to the ASUS site and download the drivers you should see one there that mentions Windows SATA driver Floppy Disk or similar. Use this disk during setup in order that the Windows Setup CD can find your Hard Drive.

I can't use HDD sata on mainboard ASUS P5RD1-VM

Things need to be turned on in your bios patrohi. This is why windows didn't boot to the SATA. You need to use your manual & make sure the, Serial ATA Controller is [Enabled]
Within the Advanved menue under SouthBridge Configuration.
At the Main menue the SATA drive should be listed.
Boot settings need to change as well. At Boot Settings Configurations. Make sure your SATA drive is listed.
Boot order should list like, Floppy 1st, CDROM 2nd, SATA 3rd. The SATA will not list as a SATA but the model number of the SATA drive. Once all these settings are set save & exit. Your drive should show up for work & the windows CD should load.

Sata DVD Ausus using K8V-MX

TRy to load the "optimized bios default setting" in your bios setup. If not solve the problem maybe in your windows issue.

try to boot up windows in safe mode and then start it normally and let the windows fixed the problem on it.

if still problem exist maybe you need to repair your windows installation using the new SATA DVD to resolve problem regarding the issue. or reinstall it. (Note: important files was no guarantee to retain, backup files when doing this).
