Had trouble removing gas cap. Then could not get it back on. Seemed to expand so put it in the snow for about 15 minutes. Got it back on but with much difficulty. Problem????

Massive problem with gas and oil caps of Poulan chain saws. Cannot remove or screw caps due to inadequate material. It expands with gas or oil contact.

Poulan should stand up for their product. This problem is universal on their chain saws. Should replace them free of charge. I know of four people with the same problem.

I cut the plastic gas cap threads with an razor knife until cap fit. Rubber seal on top of cap holds the gas in.....Easy to do.

SOURCE: Darned gas cap will NOT go back on ~?

Check the threads on the cap and the tank, they may have been damaged. If so, it may require a new gas tank, or a new cap.

Gas cap release on 2013 Outback freezing. Parked it in the SUBARU Dealer garage for 40 minutes and it freed up. Where does the cable run so I can hit it with a hair dryer or heater when it sticks?

The gas cap release cable runs from the floor, under the carpet, then across under the back seat to the gas cap.

The problem is usually that the release lever assembly rusts up due to ice and snow. A new assembly is about $40, and not difficult to replace: the carpet has to lifted to do it.

If your problem is the gas cap door not opening (ie not the release lever...) the door hinge needs lubricating. The best approach is to remove the door, apply some silicon-based lube to the hing and wiggle it till the hinge turns freely. Reinstall the gas cap door.

Check gas cap

You'll need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes.
Chances are there is a small leak in the EVAP system. Could be a valve or hose in addition to the gas cap.

I changed my gas cap yesturday and my engine light went on today. would that have anything to do with it?

Hello: Yes if it is not designed for your truck it will cause the engine light to come. (the evap system) If you put a locking gas cap on that could be the problem. If you want a locking gas cap you will have to get a GM on

The check engine light comes on i have had it to the dealer twice and both times they said it was the gas cap i have to take it back again today 2004 hyundai xg350

It is quite common to find out that a trouble code for a gross evap leak was actually set by a loose gas cap. You should always be sure to tighten up the gas cap (usually until it clicks).

If you are sure that you are properly tightening the gas cap, and no one else has removed the cap to fuel the vehicle, then you might have a vacuum leak in evap system, but it will be no small vacuum leak, and it should be very noticable.
