I done that before, I know it sounds stupid, but I forgot to turn the monitor on too. do you have a soft yellow light on the monitor when you start the computer?

I don't know how old your computer is, and that don't really mean anything either. But I was wondering do you have another monitor you could plug into your CPU just to see it it fires Up? I know its not very often a monitor goes bad, but its not uncommon either. Have a friend hook up his just for a test. And I like to go to goodwill industries just to look around, I bet I seen 20 monitors all lined up on shelves, so I know you can pick one up for pennys on the dollar. other than that I'm fresh out of Ideas. Good Luck.

We turned off the monitor last night and now it wont come back on this morning, The little light is flashing but screen does not come on

What is the make and model, age of the monitor?
The problem can be bad caps in the power supply, bad backlight inverter circuits, or bad lamps. http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

We leave our computer turned on at night but we turn off the monitor. The last two weeks when we have turned on our monitor in the morning it will show the desktop but when we move the mouse the monitor...

Yes. Do not turn the monitor off by its power switch, let the computer do the work for you. Alot of times when people use the power switch to turn off the monitor, the computer sees that all of a sudden the monitor has been disconnected from the pc. when that happens the pc sees it as a device beimg unplugged and removes that certain device from the pc's list of things that should be connected, and when you turn it back on the pc sees it again and starts loading drivers for that new part(monitor)

Blue power button flashing with blank screen

This is most likely the power inverter board in the monitor - this is common in many monitors. If it started taking longer and longer to display an image, and the power light is blinking on-and-off, that's the problem. You can confirm that it's the monitor and not your computer or the cable by plugging in another monitor if you have one to try.

If it's under warranty, send it back, if not, there are inverter boards for many common models of LCD monitors that are replaceable. The board can run anywhere from $50 on up. Depending on how old it is, you may find it better to just replace it with a gently used one from ebay.
