Question about Brother MFC 6800 All-In-One Laser Printer

Machine error AE on brother MFC 6800

The opening mechanism on my machine got jammed. I had to deconstruct the machine and put it back together ( without 2 springs which just keep the top steady when open)

Anyway the printer currently prints but displays the following message
Machine Error AE - which inhibits fax and Scan/Copy functions

Called Brother and they told me it refers to a sensor - CCDHP - which is currently in OFF position and must be turned ON

Any idea where this sensor is , how to get to it and change the setting?

Thanx
Michael

The error is from the scanner. It is possible the scanner lock on the underside of the scanner has shifted and not allowing the scanner to correctly return to the home position. Try Checking the scanner lock and make sure it is not in the locked position. Then turn off and on your machine while holding the menu/set button. the machine will come up either with an error or in maintenance mode. either way enter 99 and see what you get. Maintenance mode is a dangerous place to play around in. 99 exits maintenance mode. 91 resets all parameters to factory setting except stored locations like phone numbers and location information. 01 resets every thing to factory. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN MAINTENANCE MODE. CCDHP is scanner home position sensor. It will probably reset just by turning the machine off and on.
good luck.

Brother MFC-8840D printer w/false paper jam indication.

With my Brother 8840D I have had paper jams that when cleared would not delete from the display nor would the machine operate until I unplugged the machine for around eight hours. I guess it is a sort of reset or reboot.

Pls open cover

This could be caused by a series of things the best way is to check the error code. While powering up hold down MENU/SET
then you might see MAINTENANCE or you might get a machine error. enter 82 if you see maintenance. It should say Machine Error 00. Meaning no problem. Any other number will let a service tech know what the problem is. Press STOP then enter 99. It might reset at that point.
