Question about Whirlpool MH6150XMS Microwave Oven

Microwave on but not heating

We have been having problems with our Whirlpool Model MH6150XMS. If it is in use for 5 minutes or more, it would not heat anylonger. It comes on and seems to be working, but not heating. I would have to unplug for a minute and plug back in to get it to work. This was for about three months. Now it does not heat at all. It comes on as if it is working properly, but does not heat.

Thank you in advance for the help!!!

When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

This is going to require electrical troubleshooting. Are you familiar enough with this to take the covers off and do some troubleshooting? If so, I can lead you though what to check. If not, you might want to think about carring it to a repair shop or getting a new one.

It sounds like a problem with the magnetron. The microwave will require service. Your two choices are whirlpool service center or a local repair business. I can assist you with either one. If you have any other questions let me know and once I have more information I can assist you further. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,
Lee

The problem is in the magnetron, or the inverter board, "if 7 years old or less" and possibily the keypad control board.

THeood is not getting heated and the turntable is

the unit inside the microwave that heats called the "magnetron" has gone bad or the circuits that power the magnetron and turntable have failed. if its under warranty still, send it back to the manufacturer. if not you can call some repair shops and see how much it would be to service it, but its most likely going to be cheaper to purchace a new microwave since they are relatively cheap these days, and electronics repair people are not cheap. hope this helps

My micro wave will not warm items up

You have not given much information, but it appears the Magnetron element (the heating device) in your oven has failed. Repairs are not cost effective my friend. New units are low priced and have many new features. Consider this.

Message for Chad

Hi. Your problem is most likely with the magnetron. I am guessing that it is going to need to be replaced. This is almost always the problem. Here is a link on how to test it. http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html

Be sure and do both tests. You will need an Ohm meter (a multi tester will have an setting for testing resistance).

Just please use caution and discharge the capacitors!!! Working on ANY microwave poses a risk for shock if caution is not used.

Microwave does not heat/cook

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part (such as a shorted diode)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Whirlpool MH6150XMS Stopped Heating and Turning

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

The door switch file is at http://www.microwavedisplay.com/doorsw.txt
