check the cylinder to crankcase joint. Mine bubbles as the crankcase is no longer sealed. It did this before & I tightened up the long screws clamping the cylinder on the case. Worked for a while & leaked again. I got a full gasket set but need correct torque values before I rebuild it.

Changed all major gaskets: Cylinder to crankcase, case half, exhaust & carb. Now it runns right. The carb can be adjusted and the choke is full open when warmed up as it's supposed to be.

Gaskets ca be bought from Homelite directly at http://www.homelite.com/service_support/order_parts

Enter the model numbers & see the exploded views. Torque values are provided in the parts lists.

Check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. check the primer bulb for pin holes and seating/sealed properly. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.

Its running too lean..there is a plastic cover over the carb adjustment screws

That may be to keep dirt out. One of the screws should be for the richness setting and the other for the idle speed.
Adjust the richness setting so the tool runs the best (fast) then turn the idle speed down to normal.
Make sure you always keep the air filter cleaned or dirt will get into the carb and cause you to have to clean out the jets in the carb.

Rebuilt carb need air and idel mixture screw settings. Blower runs but only a few seconds and then will not restart.

air fuel mixture screw shoould have initial setting of two turns out from lightly seated, check unit make sure cylinder is tight to base they only have two screws holding them down,if 2 cycle motor has a vaccum leak they will not run properly, also check compression if you have gauge should have a least 100 psi to run properly.

Homelite Backpacker II leaf blower start fine then shuts off when I engage the throttle.  Seems like engine is flooding.  Just installed new spark plug, not sure what to do next.

have you checked air filter? the carb may need adjusting. locate the adjustment screw(s) , screw them all the way in then back out 1-1/2 turns. try to start the engine. then let me know what happens.

Blower

You need to rebuild the carburetor. Go to m-and-d.com then parts diagram then illustrated parts online then parts look up then under select OEM select Homelite then do as instructed. You should find the parts you need and hopefully the parts breakdown for the carb. this will help you in the rebuild. If it does not have the parts breakdown for the carb. find what mfg and model carb. it is then go to that site for breakdown.

fist thing is run both the carb screws all the way in then back them off 1 1/4 turn this will be your starting point then start the blower to fine tune the carb if it starts then your carb was off giving it to much or to less fuel

PoulonPro Leaf Blower will not run properly

the carb has a screen in it it needs to be cleaned out the fuel gets crystalized in the carb when it sits for a while. and if the carb has a high and low on the carb meaning 2 screws on the side of the carb .one is for air and the other is for fuel try this first start it up and give it full throttle and turn the high adjustment till it does something screw it in slowley and or out till it is at full rpm sometimes the adjustment screws do vibrate there way out of adjustment .if it dont work then take the carb apart to clean out the screen
