Thjis PC has a SATA (serial) drive. You have to purchase a SATA cable and a SATA power cable. Then you can install it on the SATA 2 port on the motherboard.

You can buys these at your local computer store or at Cyberguys.com:

You may have to copy and paste the link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I have an acer aspire t180-oa7z. i want to put a new hard drive in. my current hard drive 80gb SATA. what hard drive would you recommend?

For your current spec hard drives can support up to 400GB. So I would like to suggest using 320 GB hard drives, and I see hard drives with this capacity still available on the market.

Pc doesn't boot stops at set up

Your computer is having some problems at POST. Try removing one of the memory dimms you have installed. In case you have one leave it like that and remove Hard Drives, optical drives, any usb devices on the back and try again. In case it boots start attaching the hard drive and try again.. if it boots, add the optical drive and so on until you get the failure.
I hope this helps.
