Replacing ic's of TP50H95

I ordered the ic's stk392-110 as you suggested but there's no schematic in my manual to guide me through replacing. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I can try and guide you from my very limited experience if you'd like.
When at the back of the set looking into the tv, the board that is furtherest to your left and has a riser ontop of it is the board that contains the two stk392's. Look for the side by side aluminium heat dissipaters that the stk392's are attached to (you can't see the stk392's from the back of the set, the dissipaters are in the way) You need to get that board out to complete repair, once you remove the board, the solder points for both the dissipaters and the stk392's are obvious.
I took a photo of all the connections prior to removing board and then labeled all of them. Once I replaced the stk's, I was surprised how easy it was to get it all back together, I didn't need the photo and my repair was successful. There were about 25 different connections and 8 or so screws holding the board in place including one or two in the middle. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hello crystallb200,

Your Convergence Amplifier ICs have malfunctioned, and have to be replaced.

Here is a brief description on how you can change these out yourself, however if you do not have a background in electronics I suggest that you have a qualified TV technician work on solving this for you.
Remove the back of the TV locate the Convergence ICs (using the schematic or service manual) and the order the parts you will need which are the two convergence ICs and the biasing resistors (you will see these on the schematic). To remove them unsolder the pins, unscrew the screws holding them on the heat sink and remove them carefully, if they stick use a solvent to break down the adhesion of the heat sink paste. Once loose, take them out and then unsolder the biasing resistors and replace them with the ones you ordered along with the ICs.

To install the new ICs put heat sink paste on the back of the ICs and insert the pins into the proper holes in the circuit board. Screw the screws back in securely, and solder the connections back.

After doing this you will need to perform a convergence adjustment, using the cross hair adjustment screen (access this from your TV menu). and the you will need to do an advance adjustment using the crosshatch pattern (also accessed from your TV menu).

Once these are done use you service manual to follow the procedures on locking the adjustments into the TVs memory.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

The resistors often burn out on that set when the convergence ic's go. The 3.3ohm 1/2watt metal film resistors those are usually the ones that burn out when the ic's go. you have to unsolder one side and lift the leg up out of circuit to check with a ohms meter. You can not check them in circuit make sure you lift a leg up to check or you will not get a correct reading

You will need to trouble shoot the start up and shutdown circuits. Often this is a minor component failing causing the set to not power up or go into protective shutdown. Do you have the service manual for this TV?

you take a long screw driver and a jumper wire to ground and touch any metal on the Red HV wire.

besure to check the resisters other wise it will blow the IC again.
i would also use stk392-180's
