Craftsman 1/2 HP Garage Door Opener

During the past couple of weeks my garage door opener does not work. There is no light on the keypay and can not turn the lights on. This has happened in the mornings only. It appears that there is no power to the opener. I checked the breaker and it is fine. An hour or so later, the power is back on all by itself?!??

Any ideas on how the power just goes out and mysteriously comes back on?

what is the temperture in the morning and what is when it comes back????

if it is temperture related porblem. you need to check the cable for shorts or open. or the outlet the power is plugged in is not functioning.

If your wall button or Key Pad have nothing on you probably have a bad board. look on back of operator where your wires plug in. There should be a little button 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch button. There will be a little Led Light beside it. Press a remote button and watch it if it lights up you have power to opener. If it does not light your board went out. Replace Key Pad

The tempatures in the morning have been cool, about 40F and an hour later slightly warmer, maybe 45-50F. Thanks for the suggestion and I am going to have the cale checked for shorts or opens. The opener is direct wired to the breaker, so no outlet is involved. The morning have been cooler since my original post and have not seen the problem again. Maybe its Grimlins? I'll update if anything wrong is found. Thanks!

Yes, replace the remote battery. It is losing power, thus working at short range only. Loss of range is the key indicator for a remote battery going out.

The shaft on these garage door motors are not direct drive systems. You'll have to open up the box to see what the actual problem is. I have had stuff like this happen where a gear just slipped out of place.

Here is a link for a parts supplier. I don't know your model but it looks like most of the Liftmaster worm screw gears and drive gears are plastic so it's possible that one of them has cracked.

& to 10n years on a door opener is good. Did you set the pressure up high there are two dials on the back and they are numbered 1 2 3 to 10 set them to 8 or 9 and see if this solves your problem. What is happening is the sensors are tell your door its hitting something dose the light blink after it stops I need to know more. I would just buy a new one don't get this one fixed not worth it.

Garage door not working

increase the opening force by 1/4 turn and decrease the closing force by 1/4 turn on the control box, where the drive shaft for the door is attached, and where the motor is. increase the or decrease the adjustment till the door can be open with minimum of torque.
