White lines and gray tint

My tv was working fine until I moved it across the room and now these horizontal white lines show up on the tv and it has a bright white tint to it. I tried messing with the screen options but that didnt work. The sound does work and you can sort of see the screen behind the tint.

Buddy, While shifting your you have accidently disturbed the Screen voltage. Bring down the Brightness and Contrast levels to 50% and then adjust 'Screen' adjustment at the rear of your TV till the screen is almost dark.

Some tv's have the focus and screen controls exposed in the back, maybe when you moved the set you missadjusted the screen control if that is the case all you need to do is move the lower control to the left slowly and the lines should go away as well as the tint. This is done thru the back with the cover on it,not need to remove cover if the controls are exposed. If the controls are not exposed the set needs service.

Check the cable going into the back of your monitor and the cable from your monitor into your computer, one of them is most likely loose.

If Your screen shows a: white vertical line on a black screen or, a white horizontal line on a black screen:
Your TV vertical or, horizontal power transistor or, chip is getting too hot.
A vertical line indicates the horizontal circuit is at fault, a horizontal line indicates the vertical circuit is at fault.
To troubleshoot: Turn on your TV untill the line shows then: after about a minute, remove power (unplug) the TV, remove the TV back cover, carefully using your finger find the too hot transistor or, chip; or, use component coolant; spray the too hot component with a component cooler repower the TV, until the screen comes back to normal. To fix: apply white sylicone coolant cream to the back of the too hot transistor or, chip. or, if there is room, a small fan can be wired in to cool the part. Radioshack sells the cream and, also a "component cooler spray" that should find and, fix this problem, also; with power removed you can, if you feel it is safe; carefully (with only one hand) feel the part; it will be very hot! (it could burn your finger!) Do not touch anything else! (this will not hurt the tv; when the picture comes back on (the offending part has cooled) you have found the problem part.

White horizontal lines covering picture on Toshiba 51HC85

The set uses a Hyper board inside that processes all signals, it is well known for this issue, board no longer available=reason is quite simple : about a dozen tiny surface mounted filter caps on that board with age dry out, at first it will work after warms up as poor caps regain some capacitance and seem to be ok.

Buy a new set, you can send that board out and have it repaired/rebuilt but the last one I saw which was under extended warranty cost about 200 just for the board rebuild.

In the last 4 years Here on Fixya I have encountered only 2 people who were able with instructions had the skill to remove the board and replace those caps, both were top notch computer repair techs.

Thin white horizontal lines!!! I've had my WEGA KE-42M1 for 5 years with no problems until about three months ago. After about an hour being on, there are thin white horizontal lines that move randomly...

Sounds like your TV is giving out, plain and simple.

If this doesn't sound right, then only one thing comes to mind. Have you moved the TV recently? Are you using a different coax cable, (if using cable that is). If so, just change the cable back to the previous one and you should be fine.
