Question about Philips HDD1630 MP3 Player

My Gogear can't turn on

Hi, yesterday when I tried to turn on my GoGear it started normally when sudddenly it only appeared a black screen and freezed there, then it started to heat and to restart itself. What should I do

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

It will not turn on or charge


Hi, the Philips GoGear is a portable MP3 player with additional functionality such as the ability to record your voice or the radio. Some minor problems may develop in the device that keep if from working normally. The most common issues are the GoGear freezing, not powering on and memory-error messages. Troubleshoot your device to return your GoGear to normal operation.

Unresponsive

1. Your GoGear may not respond to button presses from time to time. This is often caused by an error in the operating system and can be fixed by resetting the device. Resetting the GoGear is similar to rebooting your computer. You will not lose any of the data uploaded to the device. To reset the GoGear, press the "Reset" button located on the left of the device. To use the Firmware Manager, open the installation CD supplied with your GoGear and follow the onscreen instructions to install the Firmware Manager on your computer. Plug the GoGear into the computer and check that your computer is connected to the Internet. Open "Firmware Manager" on your computer. You will be prompted to "Restore" the firmware or "Update" the firmware. Since you need to restore your device to working order, select the "Restore Firmware" option. Updating the firmware will not delete the files or errors that are causing the GoGear to malfunction.

Once the process is complete and your GoGear can power on again, consider updating the firmware. Updates give your device extra functionality and repair errors in the device.

Go gear vibe has been frozen for about 25 min. wont shut off or anything

Memory Full
The GoGear allows you to make voice or FM radio recordings and saves the recordings to the internal memory. The internal memory is limited and the GoGear may show the message "Memory Full" when trying to save recordings. This will free up memory so you can save more recordings or place additional music files on the GoGear.

My phillips gogear started acting weird last night when the screen turned whit, i literally cant see anything on the screen now and am NOT willing to pay to fix it, any suggestions?

Your philips gogear screen is bad get it replaced and things will be normal .
there is nothing wrong with the machine other than this lcd .

Cant turn my gogear on it Freeze´s


WARNING: this process will erase all songs off the GoGear.
Disconnect the GoGear from computer.
Turn the GoGear off.
Hold in the volume + button.
Reconnect the GoGear while holding in the volume + button.
Continue holding the volume + button.
After 5-50 seconds, Windows will pop-up a "Found New Hardware Wizard." - complete the wizard (BTW, you can take your hand ff the volume + button now).

Computer Freezes


Make sure you have installed Philips Device Manager from the product CD.

With the player powered off:

Press and hold VOL+ whilst connecting to the PC.

PC will show drive as Recovery Device (or similar) and device manager will start and show "Your device has an error...."

Click repair and follow the on-screen prompts.

When prompted, disconnect the player and power on.

Player will show "Loading" and then shut down.

Power on again.

Player will show "Updating" and then shut down again.

Player can now be powered up as normal.

Restart
