My computer beeps when I start it up how do I stop it

The beeps you hear are BIOS Beep Codes. The computer's method of telling you something is wrong, and an area to look into for it.

It is a pattern. A series of beeps, then a pause, then a repeat.
    It is a Code.

Listen to the beep code. Post it back in a Comment.

    F2 & F3

I'm going to take a stab and assume the laptop is beeping after you start it up... if it is this is called a beep code, its telling you something is wrong with it or something has changed. F2 or F3 will probably take you into its BIOS or give you access to the boot order. When I used to upgrade memory in dell latitudes it would beep on boot and say something to the effect of 'amount of system memory has changed, press F1 to continue or F2 for bios'. If you made changes to the laptop's physical components it is basically telling you something has changed and wants you to go into its BIOS to confirm. If you have done nothing to do and its beeping on boot, then its telling you there's something wrong. You will be to determine the make and model of the laptop and then obtain its service manual to look up what the beep codes indicate... there are sort of like morse code, 2 beeps means this, 3 beeps means that etc. What is the make and model and did you do anything to do (i.e. upgrade memory) before this started happening?

On a dellmodel pp39l when the power is turned on it beeps 2 times and doesnt start up

I could not find any beep codes that show only 2 beeps, please refer to the Dell Support website to find out what beep code best matches what your laptop is doing

    http://support.ap.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe650/en/sm/beep.htm

Have you recently taking apart your laptop? If so then double check to make sure the RAM is seated correctly, remove the battery plug in only power and try turning on the laptop.

    Please rate if this helps,

Most laptops use beep codes to isolate startup problems . You may hear something like beep beep-beep or a combination
The beeps tell you why it's not starting ... if you hear the sounds then the manufacturers web site will tell you what the code you are getting means

When i start my computer it makes a loud beeping noise it is a acer aspire4520

What you are hearing is probably a BIOS beep code.

Beep codes are a bit like Morse code, and are used to indicate certain faults with the hardware.

The codes change from manufacturer to manufacturer, but generally speaking one beep = System OK, so if your PC is starting up normally and you have no other problems there is nothing to worry about!

    Hope this helps,

Hi All I have a Sony VGNBX197XP laptop that does not output to the screen and beeps as follows one long beep followed by two shorter beeps Can anyone tell me what this beep code means Thanks

everything points out that you have a problem with your video adapter. what you hear is a beep code which it's a way for your bios to let you know that there's a problem when the computer fails to start, the beep code points the video adapter or the video rom on your adapter as the culprit. it's likely you will have to replace your motherboard altogether as the video adapter comes built in, the video adapter is not usually serviceable in a laptop.

you may still be able to get the stuff out of your hard drive but you may have to replace your laptop if you don't have any warranty on it.

Compac laptop nc6000 tries to start up then shuts

For all troubleshooting, make sure the laptop is connected to the DC power cable rather than running off the battery.
are you getting any beeps? if not, it's probably bad system board or cpu. if you are getting beeps, then that beep code will usually give a clue as to the failing hardware.
