Hi,
Our TV just makes the usual clicking sound as if it is coming on, but no sound and no picture. The red standby light is flashing....help!
Thanks,
Cindy
Guess what?! Just by unplugging the power and waiting 5 minutes (I actually waited about an hour) and then plugging in again fixed it! The SONY website recommended this for a similar problem and it worked for me (for now anyway!) Thanks for this service, it's a great site! CindyGuess what?! These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
I own a Sony T.V. model #KV36HS510, Serial # 9024184,Event# E36002407 and it"s aTrinitron brand name. Like the problems before no picture or sound, stand by light on front of unit flashes. When trying to turn it back on you can hear the power click, like it wants to turn on, but does not.
The Sony error codes go up to 7, so when the standby light flashes 11 times it usually means that one of the clock or data lines deep inside the set is shorted to ground. This is not fixable from the front or through the remote, so the set should be serviced by a qualified tech familiar with Sony sets.
