Question about Electrolux ICON Designer E30SO75ESS Oven
Trying to self clean our Electrolux Icon oven for the first time. Have removed the racks and rack supports. However, when I press "clean" it still displayed "remove racks" and won't start (beeps three times instead). Frustrating!!!
I was getting the remove rack error until I finally figured out what it wanted me to remove. When you say you removed the rack supports, do you mean just the sliding parts or the whole side metal rack support? At first I thought they were bolted in, but I read somewhere that they come out, too. Upon further investigation, I found the rack supports just slide into the side walls at 4 points. I had to use a little force to pull them out, but they came out and my oven is self-cleaning as I write this. I just thought I would share in case you or others haven't figured it out yet. Now I will just have to see how hard it is to get them back in...

I had the same problem, but it is easily solvable. You have to remove the racks AND the rack supports on the sides. Just gently pull them up and they lift right out. They snap back in the same way.

After removing all racks and rack glides from the side the "racks" light was still blinking and self clean didn't start.
Calling Electrolux it's a wast of time, the most you get is the phone of a local service company.
Found the solution myself, on the top left side, inside the track holding the rack glide, there is a switch. This is how it knows if rack is present. It was stuck, jiggle it a bit and self cleaning works

Best solution by crookedrn was most helpful and solved the problem. I had no idea those side racks would come out -- and, in fact, one of them didn't come out easily. I needed to use a little leverage with screw driver to loosen it enough to lift it out. NOTE TO ELECTROLUX-- we should tell the company that these side racks are greasy and filthy, too -- so design them so we can leave them in and get them clean, too. The fumes from the cleaning cycle have begun as i type this. Thanks crookedrn. All the best, susan

I removed all racks, including side racks, and the it still read "remove racks", since I still had to cook I replaced the racks, called the technician, and removed the racks to clean them. I tried again the clean cycle and it worked. Maybe I originally pulled the racks to quickly. So try to put the racks back and then remove them.

I just had the same problem, I didn't realize that one must remove the side racks also. Once you do that, no problem.

I had the same problem, have cleaned before so I knew to remove the racks, I had already giggled the button switch on the wall of the over where the rack sits, but still told me to remove racks. So I i put in the side rack that holds the switch in, turned on the oven, let it heat until about 300, turned it off removed that one side rack, and viola, it works! thanks for the tip.

I have used the self clean feature many times in the past. I have removed all racks including the side wall racks. I am now getting the "remove racks" flashing, beeping and it won't let me progress with the cleaning. I've replaced the racks, set it onto bake (thinking I'd reset it's self) - no avail. Now what?

We have had the same problem. Our model is the gas 30" dual fuel range, and the rack sensor on the upper lefthand bracket at the back is a metal prong that springs in and out when the rack is in place. Nothing was working so I tried loosening the screw that holds the pronged sensor in the oven wall (the screw goes through the bracket for the rack, but is a different head style than the type that attaches the bracket to the oven wall). It may have just been luck but this actually worked - it must have shifted the prong just enough to disengage the sensor. The oven is happily chugging away on its self clean cycle. Certainly seems like a design flaw! It may be wise to retighten it after the cycle completes.

We also had the "remove racks" signal continue as we had already removed the racks and supports. We read above about putting the racks in, heating the oven for awhile and then shutting of the oven, I I then removed the racks and supports and pressed "clean"...it worked.
I last summer placed the racks and supports in a huge plastic storage container. I put in the static sheets for the dryer and then stirred. I placed the racks and support in to soak over night. It made cleaning so easy. Just lightly used a cloth to polish it up. I googled this option. Can do in bathtub but didn't want the mess or the chance of scratching the tub.

Had same problem with top oven but successfully cleaned bottom oven with no problem (i.e. it turned on despite the side racks left intact during cleaning!)
***Now my question is: what is the best way to clean the filthy side racks?
