I have the same exact problem! I was here searching for an answer and instead found a soulmate! My Icon oven is also new, I have removed the racks (though not the rack supports, as they are structural and shouldn't NEED to be removed for a cleaning cycle) and keep hearing the same three beeps...can anyone help us?

I have the same problem!  Thanksgiving is in 3 days and I want to get this thing clean before!  I've removed the racks and it is still beeping at me to remove the racks for cleaning.  Can't find any help!

Same problem here - took out racks, self-cleaning won't start - just beeps after I press start and doesn't get going. I'm stumped!!! I might call their service department - the oven is only 6 months old!!

Same problem here. This is my second oven. The first one locked and wouldn't unlock after it preheated and was ready to go. Technician "fixed" problem but ended up creating another one. I was w/o an oven for about 2 weeks. I am hoping to resolve this problem w/o technician coming out again.

I am having the same problem as everyone else is! Can't get my $2,000+ Electrolux oven to self clean! I figured it would be an easy task as this is my first time do this and my old oven was simple to clean. To hear that I would need to call in a technician with a brand new oven is aggravating!

Same problem. Have run the clean cycle on top oven, but bottom won't start after removing racks & supports.

  • Anonymous Apr 09, 2009

Have removed racks and supports and still have the same problem. Also "rebooted" the oven by turning power off to the oven (at the circuit breaker) and then back on. Still does not work.

I was getting the remove rack error until I finally figured out what it wanted me to remove. When you say you removed the rack supports, do you mean just the sliding parts or the whole side metal rack support? At first I thought they were bolted in, but I read somewhere that they come out, too. Upon further investigation, I found the rack supports just slide into the side walls at 4 points. I had to use a little force to pull them out, but they came out and my oven is self-cleaning as I write this. I just thought I would share in case you or others haven't figured it out yet. Now I will just have to see how hard it is to get them back in...

The left rack guide must be removed first. I cannot find it in the directions but the help line provided the tip.

Once you remove the racks, you should be able to clean it. If it still flashes remove racks, open door and look towards the back of oven. There shlud be a metal bar that goes in when you insert the racks and swings out when you remove them. Try pushing the bar on back and forth a few times. That is where the sensor is connected to that tells it the shevlves are removed. It took 30 mnutes to figure out but it worked. If it doesn't then the lonshot is the sensor is broken and you'd have to get it replaced. You only rmeove the racks when you clean it so the sensor may be stuck so by moving or fliping thr bar that should loosen the sensor. Good luck.

Our oven is a floor standing gas version. We did not have to remove the rack supports on the side of the oven walls. On the upper left hand rack support near the back is where the small metal nipple sits that detects when the racks are in place. There is a small circular piece of metal on the oven wall just below where the nipple sits. The nipple is hard to find because it is in the narrow space between the rack support and the oven wall. Our nipple was stuck in position because some cooking debris was keeping it from moving. We scrubbed it with a small bristle brush and it freed up immediately. As soon as we could feel the nipple moving freely the oven went into cleaning mode without any problem.

I had the same problem, but it is easily solvable. You have to remove the racks AND the rack supports on the sides. Just gently pull them up and they lift right out. They snap back in the same way.

Best solution by crookedrn was most helpful and solved the problem. I had no idea those side racks would come out -- and, in fact, one of them didn't come out easily. I needed to use a little leverage with screw driver to loosen it enough to lift it out. NOTE TO ELECTROLUX-- we should tell the company that these side racks are greasy and filthy, too -- so design them so we can leave them in and get them clean, too. The fumes from the cleaning cycle have begun as i type this. Thanks crookedrn. All the best, susan

I removed all racks, including side racks, and the it still read "remove racks", since I still had to cook I replaced the racks, called the technician, and removed the racks to clean them. I tried again the clean cycle and it worked. Maybe I originally pulled the racks to quickly. So try to put the racks back and then remove them.

I have the same problem. Electrolux paid for the repair while under warranty but it is happening now AFTER warranty. Electrolux has now offered to pay for parts but not labor. But the bill I got was labor only! The culprit is the spring that recognizes if the racks are out. It is faulty. My brother has the same range- had a $350'repair after warranty expired and Electrolux, he tells me, would not help. I would not buy the oven. If I had it to do all over, only because of poor. Customer relations.

After removing all racks and rack glides from the side the "racks" light was still blinking and self clean didn't start.
Calling Electrolux it's a wast of time, the most you get is the phone of a local service company.
Found the solution myself, on the top left side, inside the track holding the rack glide, there is a switch. This is how it knows if rack is present. It was stuck, jiggle it a bit and self cleaning works

I had the same problem, have cleaned before so I knew to remove the racks, I had already giggled the button switch on the wall of the over where the rack sits, but still told me to remove racks. So I i put in the side rack that holds the switch in, turned on the oven, let it heat until about 300, turned it off removed that one side rack, and viola, it works! thanks for the tip.

We also had the "remove racks" signal continue as we had already removed the racks and supports. We read above about putting the racks in, heating the oven for awhile and then shutting of the oven, I I then removed the racks and supports and pressed "clean"...it worked.
I last summer placed the racks and supports in a huge plastic storage container. I put in the static sheets for the dryer and then stirred. I placed the racks and support in to soak over night. It made cleaning so easy. Just lightly used a cloth to polish it up. I googled this option. Can do in bathtub but didn't want the mess or the chance of scratching the tub.

Had same problem with top oven but successfully cleaned bottom oven with no problem (i.e. it turned on despite the side racks left intact during cleaning!)
***Now my question is: what is the best way to clean the filthy side racks?

How do I clean the electrolux oven? It won't start after i take the racks out

As you did not specify the exact model I assume that this is a self-cleaning oven, in other words with pyrolytic cleaning. It has a microswitch which is activated by removing the racks and just because that you can not run the pyrolytic cleaning otherwise racks would be destroyed. Do not forget that the temperature during pyrolytic cleaning is app. 500 degrees Celsius. For that reasons the oven door is locked when temperature increasing to app. 300 degrees and unlocked when the temperature decreasing to the app. 200 degrees. It is clear that when you remove the racks only program that you can run is pyrolytic cleaning.

Electrolux Icon range won't self clean - "Remove Racks" displayed

Good Morning Friend,

I understand you are unable to self-clean your Electrolux Icon range, model# E30SO75ESS, due to it stating "Remove Racks", when you already have. Please follow these instructions for cleaning your oven:

1. Remove the turntable from the oven before the Refresh Cycle. No food should be in the oven.
2. The Refresh Cycle is 30 minutes.
3. During the Refresh Cycle some smoke and odor may occur. Open a window or use the ventilation fan in the room.

If this does not help, I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging your appliance or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and try the "Refresh cycle". I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Electrolux Icon Oven self cleaning won't start- the lock button keeps flashing. Yes, the racks and rack holders are removed.

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are having trouble with your Electrolux Icon oven, model# E30SO75ESS, and running the self-clean cycle. I see that the lock button keeps flashing and that you have the racks and rack holders out. I suggest following the steps below to run your self-clean cycle:

    1) Place the rack holders and the racks in your oven.

    2) Reset your appliance, by shutting the power off at your homes circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes.

    3) Restore power.

    4) Reset the clock, by pressing the "Clock" button then press the number "2". Enter in the time of day, and then press the "Clock" button again.

    5) Start the self-clean cycle with the racks in your range. This is to make your oven recognize that the racks are in the oven.

    6) Take the racks and rack holders out and start the self-clean cycle again.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your oven status has changed successfully.

Self oven cleaner

Hi Debbie, this is AP

I understand you are having trouble getting the self-clean mode on your Electrolux ICON wall oven to start. On this model, E30EW86GSS, you must remove the rack supports in order for the self-clean mode to start. To remove the oven rack support for
a self-clean cycle, pull up the support to disengage them from the brackets. If the rack supports are not removed, the self-clean cycle won't start. If you find that this does not resolve your concern and you following the self-clean instructions precisely I would recommend contact a local authorized technician to inspect your wall oven. I you need assistance locating a technician please visit the manufacture website for additional information. I hope this information helps to some degree - thanks for your question, and please do not hesitate to reconnect if you have additional information regarding your question.
Thanks,

I removed all the racks from my upper oven (including the side racks) to self-clean and am getting the "remove racks" light. I've cleaned the oven before and never had this happen. The...

There is a button on the top receiver bracket on the left side... when you take the rack support bracket out you will see it. Take a damp sponge and go over that area, pressing the plunger/button in several times. That should do it. Sometimes grease build up can prevent the button from popping out all the way, so the oven thinks that the racks are still in there.

We have an Electrolux Icon oven and cannot get the self cleaner to work. We removed all racks (including side racks) turned it to clean and nothing happened. We shut off the power and turned it back...

There is a small white plastic triangular switch that needs to be in the out position for the oven to recognize that the racks have been taken out. Look at the back left side WITHIN the upper rack support channel. (This is not the small U-shaped piece that can be seen slightly lower on the wall oven.) If the switch is still depressed, with power turned off at the breaker, depress the switch using a small screwdriver. It should pop outwards to the proper "racks out" position. When we had this problem and recycled the power, we again got the signal. Husband switched to a nonconductive tool and repeated the depressing/releasing of the switch while the oven was giving the "remove racks" command. It sensed that all was well and now operates properly. If this does not fix the problem, you may have to replace a board $$$.

How do I clean my Electrolux Icon Oven?

Which Electrolux Icon Oven do you have?

For most ovens, with a use a cloth and hot soapy water (do not use an abrasive cleanser or an oven cleaner), clean the door and the frame of the oven outside of the gasket. Similarly, remove the heavy amounts of spilled food (get rid of sugary or highly acidic food spills particularly) in the oven. Take the oven racks and oven rack support, broiler pan and insert, utensils and any foil out of the oven. Then close the door. If you have a single oven, press Clean. If you have a double oven, select the oven to clean and then press Clean. Select the duration of the cleaning cycle (either by hours (2,3, or 4) or cleaning level (Lite, Medium or Heavy)). Some Electrolux ovens have buttons for the cleaning level otherwise use the up/down arrows. Then press Start. The door will lock and remain locked until the oven cools after the cleaning process. For a delayed cleaning cycle, make sure the time is correct on the clock and press End Time and enter the time you want the cycle to end and then Start.

Make sure the kitchen is well ventilated.

The manuals are available for most from the Electrolux site. Start at http://www.electroluxicon.com/ and search for your model. (Either search on the model at the top right or under Kitchen Appliances) If you find a page for that model, it will have a Specifications and Guides tab. The manual is in that tab as a pdf.

I hope this helps.
