Question about Canon SmartBase MP390 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Smartbase MP390 Printer - error ##345

Have tried everything I can to correct this. Print cartridge stuck in middle of carriage does not move when printer switched off and then on. Cannot print anything or clean from maintenance page. Was ok 3 days ago as printed several pages with this. Can you please help me?

    My MP390 printer was working fine too. then it started making noises as if a gear was slipping and now stopped working altogether with a #345 error code.

Trapped ink cartridge on printer


Instructions

1. Step 1

Remove the printer inkjet cartridge from the printer. Inspect it to make sure that it truly has ink left in the sponge that is worth going after. If it is dry, this method will not help you get any more out of it.

2. Step 2

Get your blow-dryer from the bathroom, or take the printer ink cartridge to where the hair dryer is.

3. Step 3

Hold the cartridge a few inches from the mouth of the blower.

4. Step 4

Blast the printer inkjet cartridge with hot air from the dryer for a couple of minutes, turning the cartridge so that all sides are warmed.

5. Step 5

Replace the printer inkjet cartridge back into the printer.

6. Step 6

Print your document. This should free up enough ink to print a few more documents. It does actually save you money to do this, even considering the cost of the electricity to melt the ink. The ink in printer inkjet cartridges is the most expensive liquid on the planet. Use every drop to your advantage.

Wrong cartridge error on canon smartbase 390


Make sure they are the BCI-24 cartridges. It may also take BCI-21. You may have a faulty cartridge if it its the correct one.

The on button and arrow button are flashing (cant Print)


Hi. This error means "A carriage jam has occurred".

The steps to correct this problem are (from HP support):

Step one: Move the carriage

1.Lift the top cover of the product.
2.Turn the product off, and then turn it on.
3.Unplug the power cord from the back of the product when the grinding noise starts.
4.Move the carriage towards the middle of the product (this procedure may take a couple of tries to get the timing correct).

Step two: Remove the cartridges

1.Press down lightly on top of the cartridge latch.
2.Pull out the bottom of the latch to unhook it.
3.Slide the print cartridge out of the carriage.
4.Repeat the steps for the other cartridge.
5.Close the top cover.
6.Reconnect the power cord.

Step three: Reinstall the print cartridges

1.Open the printer cover.
2.Wait until the carriage moves to the right side of the printer and is idle and silent.
3.Press down lightly on top of the cartridge latch.
4.Pull out the bottom of the latch to unhook it.
5.Hold the print cartridge so that the copper strips are on the bottom and facing toward the printer, and then slide the print cartridge into the carriage.
* Install the tri-color print cartridge in the left side of the carriage.
* Install the black, photo print cartridge, or the gray photo print cartridge in the right side of the carriage.
NOTE: To easily identify the correct side of the carriage in which to install the print cartridge, match the symbol on the print cartridge label with the symbol above the carriage.

6.Push down on the print cartridge latch until it snaps closed.
7.Lower the cover of the product.

Canon Smartbase MP360 showing error code ##336


It seems the home position sensor is out of whack or the mylar band behind the print cartridge carriage is missing or broken.
To find the mylar piece look for a clear 6mm x 460mm clear piece of plastic with black markings (like a gradient) on both sides.If you find it you can try and place it back by looking for an extended eyelet on both sides of the stell print carrier.
Most people in haste to change ink have the hand slip and it becomes dislodged.

My ink cartridge on my canon MP 390 will not move to the middle so I can remove the ink tank.


Russel, try the following, open the casing so that you can view the round bar on wich the cartridge mounting is attached, then use kleenex or towel paper to remove any grime on the roundbar on that unit. then apply vaseline or 3 in 1 oil onto the whole length of the roundbar. Lastly with your finger try and move the cartridge unit gently without any force. If it still doesn't move then you should see that either the belt or belt drive tension is correct and moving freely, if it does, then place your finger under the cartridge unit and lift it gently upwards, while lifted try move it to the other side of the printer. If not get back to me.

Smartbase MP390 Printer - error code #345


"waste tank full" alarm; you may need to reset the waste tank counter.
Try:
Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Enter SERVICE MODE.---
By pressing Menu-Copy-#
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].
5) Select 0. [INK COUNT].
6) Press the [OK] key.
7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.

Jammed at far right (error message ##345)

I don't know if you have the same problem as me but my printer kept saying cartridge jammed so I opened it up and moved the cartride head gently to the left and got a flash light there is a little peice of metal on the base where the cartridges sit you have to make sure it is cliked back in and now mine works again.
I hoe this helps

Error ##343 and it didn't print anything Orange light below screen has been flashing, screen message "Waste Ink Nearly Full". No idea where waste ink container is kept? Have changed cartridges. Now saying...


Manual Reset procedure Waste Ink Tank for Canon MP390:
  1. Start with printer on, press additional functions, Scan, Copy, Scan. Now you should be in service mode.
  2. Select Test mode (must be the last available selection).
  3. Select #8 Printer Test, it will start cleaning then it will come up with some other option: push the + or - button until it says 8-3 then hit the select button
  4. The menu will now say EEPROM Clear
  5. Select Ink count which is option (0) and press set
  6. Press Stop/Reset Followed by the power button and then wait for it to restart.

Printer problem


I did a few quick searches, and found this.

It pretty much says that your print heads are messed up or you have a jam inside the printer. Depending on the level you want to get into taking a part the unit you may wish to purchase another one or take it into a big box store to be shipping to a service center or call canon and as for the nearest one. However according to the post here, you can soak the print heads in warm water over night to clean them. However most likely there is an object blocking the cartridge.
