Problem with Kenmore Dryer HE2

I have a 1-year old dryer Kenmore HE2. Recently I found that drying time has increased and it jumps. For example, display shows that 10 min left to the end of the cycle and after this time expires it may show 17 more min. I checked ventilation system and found no blockage. Screen is also clean. Can you help me to identified this problem?

GE Dryer DBSR453Eb2WW takes twice as long to dry clothes

A clogged or partially clogged vent will reduce the air flow through the dryer and greatly increase the drying time. I assume you checked the drying time again after you cleaned the vents. Have you also checked that the lint trap is clean? Make sure no lint has found it's way around the lint trap and has jammed the intake.

I would be very suspicious of the 240 v breaker double breaker feeding the dyrer; maybe the dryer is only running on 120 vac instead of the full 240vac. The motor would be getting full power, but the heating element would only be getting half power.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Takes too long to dry

Check the following ares carefully to combat this issue.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

I had success.  I found the manual....unplugged the dryer, and rotated the inside drum several times to check for any coins or small objects.  I did not find anyything, but if something small was lodged it is not hampering the dryer.  I plugged it back in and it worked right away...

Dryer takes too long to dry clothes. it usually takes two complete cycles to dry . ( dryer is a kenmore approx. 3 years old, but out of warranty

this is an airflow problem. make sure you are using a rigid metal duct behind the machine and not a flexible one. clean out the exhaust duct behind the dryer and in the wall all the way to the  outside. any residue of lint inside these ducts will increase drying time dramatically. basically clean everywhere the air flows.
  • if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.
