Question about JVC GR-D295 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I received my camera last christmas as a gift, and have had no problems with it up until this point. out of the blue, the LCD screen has stopped working. I called JVC, bought a head cleaner per their advice, and still, the screen won't work. however, i can get audio when playinng a tape, just no picture. i have tried both the viewfinder pulled out, as well as in, and been through all my settings. i know it's under warranty, but it does't cover labor, and i don't want to shell out $65 bucks for them just to look at it, and then wait around another 3-6 weeks to get it back. any suggestions?

SOURCE: No picture on my JVC GR-D72US
No Prob...I had the same problem with my GR-D72U. There is a defect in the CCD image sensor. JVC will fix it for FREE! All it will cost you is shipping it to them. Go to http://www.jvcservice.com/service/CustNoticeCamcorder.asp?PgReq=DspDtaDtl&MdlNbr=GR-D72US&Pgm=CCD , download the rapair request... Send it off to your nearest service center and they ship it back all fixed up in less than a week. I must tell you though, you ONLY have until Dec. 31 2008 to do this. Not only did they fix mine, they cleaned the heads but also buffed out a scratch. After you get yours fixed, post as many helps as you can to others.

You need to use 4 pin firewire cable to connect to the PC.
Switch on the cam.
Open Windows Movie Maker and import the video from device.

Hi tlaufer ,
According to the symptom this problem is related to the VIDEO HEAD, As you earlier try to clean the head but no results, Please open the cassette compartment of your camera (as when you insert the cassette in it) for 30 mins (remains open cassette compartment) Actueally some time due to moisture head get durt.
After 30 mins insert the cassette and play it. Hope it will start work again fine.
But if no result from the said procedure then there must be a damadge of point of the head, in this condition you have to replace the VIDEO HEAD assembly.
Thanks for using fixya.
