Question about Canon PowerShot S400 / IXUS 400 Digital Camera

1 Answer

The LCD monitor does not show what you are trying to take a picture of

When I turn my camera on, the lcd screen just shows a dark image of horizontal streaking. I can photograph it and my image is much brighter with a lot of red but still no actual image is captured. Sometimes I can push display on and off and the problem is fixed, but not often. I had purchased a new battery because I thought this might be part of the problem - it has not made a difference. Any help would be appreciated. Sharon sharacoe@ameritech.net

This could have possibly been the best solution ever, if Canon determines that it is the CCD Imager problem, fixes, and returns my camera at no cost to me. I already talked to them and I am waiting for my label to sent my camera to them for analysis and repair. Thanks for your help. Gratefully, Sharon

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Why is line flashing on monitor?

If the pictures have lines or marks in them when loaded up on a computer screen then it's a fault with the image sensor inside the camera, if they do not then it's a fault with the lcd screen on the camera, either way it's not an easy fix and will probably cost more than a new camera

LCD Display is Black

the image in the LCD monitor will darken in strong sunlight or bright light. This is normal occurrrence in device CCDs and does not contitute a malfunction. This image will not be recoded when shooting still photos, but it will be recorded wihen shooting movies.Read you owner manual and adjust the MENU, according with your o. manual.Otherwise you must go the repair shop
God bless you

In my w180 image is clear and bright in the LCD screen but when i downloaded the images to my PC it shows poor lighting and dark images pls help me

The lcd screen on your camera is back-lit and shows a brighter picture than the one you actually take. If you can turn down the screen brightness that may help. You could also raise the "exposure compensation" setting and experiment until you find a setting you like.

Why LCD monitor can not show image

Hi,

It might be that it accidently change the display time of the picture or turned it off. There is a setting that you can change to display pictures. Check if that might be the problem.

Cheers

LCD Display Blank

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)
