Envelopes print fine, but they all come out of the printer wrinkled. I tried many different makes of size 10 envelopes and they all come out wrinkled.

The blue levers are spring loaded and will only stay in one position.

  • arkinsnr Nov 10, 2008

I was able to force the blue tabs in the upper position, but when trying to print, The envelope would only feedin about 2 inch, and then the paper light came on and the printer stopped. After trying seveal times with the same result, I moved the tabs back to their original position and tried printing again, only now the paper would not feed normally like it used to. After several tries, the printer power went off. When it came back on I still cannot print envelopes. There is no paper jam, and I don't know how to get my printer back to working normal again.

    Any suggestions?

Open the back of the printer. You will see 2 little blue levers on either side. Put them in the opposite direction, that is, if they are up, snap them down. I dont know the mechanics of this, but it worked for me.

Unplug (not just turn off) the printer. Re-plug and let it cycle through, you should be fine. Afraid I have no other suggestions for the envelopes, it worked for me, but then we all hear THAT a lot!

Actually, they DO go into the upper position, you just have to use a little force to get them to stick in position.

Envelopes wrinkles after running through printer

Minolta does recommend stuffing the lip inside the envelope before running. But I think it only helps with jamming. Plus high humidity can cause wrinkling.

We have a Laser Jet Pro CM1415. It wrinkles linen envelopes when printing. Is there a quick fix (adjustment etc.)? It prints slick envelopes OK.

Hello,

that printer is really not designed to print on those envelopes but the wrinkling is usually caused by to much moisture in the envelope or paper stock. When the printer heats the print stock to bond the toner to the paper in the fuser unit the moisture evaporates and causes the paper to wrinkle. Don't know of a fix for it other than use different print stock.

When I try to print #10 envelopes on my HP Laserjet 4 Plus printer through the MP tray, they come ou with wrinkles, smudges and creases. And they are hot! ideas?

Make sure that if you have a setting for paper type you have it set for envelope. This would be found in the setup menus, I just don't remember if this model has that setting, they are getting to be rare now. The other common cause of print problems is the envelopes themselves, if they are old or have been stored where they have been allowed to absorb moisture, you will have a very hard time printing on them. Try some different envelopes if you have them.

HP Color LaserJet CM2320nf MFP Envelope wrinkles

On alot of printers when you print envelopes theres a back door on the printer to prevent the curling or wrinkles. Just open the back door when doing envelopes.

Best of luck and have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

Printer HL 5370 DW is wrinkling all envelopes. Is

If it's not wrinkling regular plain paper, then you need to tell the printer you're printing envelopes. Envelopes are thicker than letter paper. When you tell it to print, make sure you click on "Properties" and set the job for "Envelopes". Also, make sure the guides are set to fit the envelopes snugly.

Envelopes are getting wrinkled when run through the Brother DCP 9040CN. How can I prevent them?

Unfortunately when feeding envelopes it is quite common for them to wrinkle a little simply because of the way envelopes are folded. The paper is thicker in certain areas because of the folded paper and the glue that holds the envelope together. You could try different brands of envelopes some don't wrinkle as bad as others but in my 37 plus years of working on copiers and printers I have never seen any envelopes that won't wrinkle a little, you may just have to live with it.

Brother MFC-9840CDW wrinkles envelopes. Brother says this is "normal", and that the only way to 'fix' it is to open the back of the printer EVERY TIME YOU PRINT AN ENVELOPE and make some kind of...

Problem Solved!

I have a Brother MFC-8480 DN all in one printer, copier, fax and scanner.

I discovered that envelopes wrinkle because users, like me, didn't know that Brothers built in a no-wrinkle, pass through exit for envelopes, labels and thick paper.

Envelopes were never to be printed by inserting them in the front and letting them wrap around a HOT roller and get cooked and wrinkled. The way it works:

An envelope is inserted in the front and goes straight out the back of the printer through an exit door, completely avoiding the hot roll-through mechanism.

Take a look. On the back of the machine is a large pass through exit door. Just snap it open. You will see one blue lever on each side of the opening. Snap them both straight down to the . . .ta da. . ."envelope icons".

Put three envelopes in the front and they will print straight out the back, perfect and wrinkle free. After printing your envelopes, snap the blue levers back up and shut the door. Takes about five seconds to open the door and snap down the blue levers down/up.

Happy envelope printing.

Printing envelopes on HL4040CN

I just bought a HL-4040CN and all my envelopes wrinkled, regardless of the size, paper thickness or software settings (thin envelope, thick envelope, etc.). Here's how I solved the problem....Open the rear panel and you'll notice a small gray lever on each side, which is probably pointing to "A" on the scale (A, B, Envelope). Move both levers to "Envelope" and close the back panel. The troubleshooting manual says the levers should be moved back to "A" after printing the envelopes, but I left them in the Envelope position and can't see any difference when printing regular or test pages or envelopes, except the envelopes are no longer wrinkled. I called Brother and asked them if there was any reason why the levers can't stay in the Envelope position, and they told me they could be left there if it wasn't negatively affecting other documents. Now, I have a great printer that prints everything without any problems. Hope this helps.

Here is a how-to for the printer, but I'm not sure if you mean the printer, or in a program.
