Question about Wharfedale DVD-M3 DVD Player

4 Answers

WharfedaleDVDRHD400F After working perfectly since new, my WharefdaleDVDRHD400F seems to have `died`! The Standby light is on but no other lights or the display panel are active. Nothing on the remote or front panel works. (it was purchased from Argos approx. 18 months ago) I have tried `re-booting` by unplugging & turning back on again but this does not work Any ideas? Thanks Neil

    Thanks Ekse,
The StandBy light is on - so it`s not the fuse in the plug. Is there one in the machine? I can`t see reference to one in the `User Manual`

Yes there is also a fuse inside the machine, and it is located in the power supply area of the internal board.
However when the power supply fuse blows, you get no power at all.

In your case the unit is in standby, then the problem is clearly not the fuse, when the fuse has blown you just get no power.

I have seen that you already unplugged the unit, but I suggest doing another attempt and leaving it unplugged for a couple of hours, if you have not done this already.

If the unit is properly starting up, but get stuck with a message on display check that there is no disk inside. In case press repeatedly the eject button while you start the machine to get hold of the disk.

Here is also a factory reset :

  • Unplug power.
  • Hold down the power button (some models you need to hold the play) while at the same time you connect back the power cable.
Be aware of the hazard involved in the operation while you do this.

If all the above did not work, then the unit is in protect mode, probably because a capacitor has blown or some other component is faulty.

In this case the DVD must be inspected by a technician.

In this case I suggest contacting Argos and asking them the cost of an extended guaranty on this item, it may still be worth repairing.

It sounds like you got the power surge problem .

It could be as simple as a bad regulator transistor or IC.

Please check its power supply board and look for open fuse in secondary voltage area like +5V or +9V like that.

Check the fuse, it may have blown due to a power surge, thats a cheap thing to replace few $ if its the problem.

If your device is out of warranty, do open it and check the fuse in the powersupply area, ive seen this one before, and in that case, it was a diffrent brand most likely but replacing the fuse solved the problem. You ain't got noting to loose if your outside warranty.

My Denon AVR-75 seems to stay in standby (red standby light is on) and I don'd get surround sound through it. How do I get it out of standby?

if the receiver does not power on from standby there is a problem like bad power supply or even bad macroprocessor. You need to bring it to a service center for diagnosing. 10-years old receiver, maybe better to buy new one.

The standby light is flashing, can't get tv to turn on. FLashes 9 times

Hey there, I had the same problem back in mid-2010 Seemed that the circuit board died. They had to change the whole board just because 1 circuit died which failed to connect to the LCD.
So once they changed it, it was only about $130. The TV worked as good as new.
Let me know if you need anymore assitance!

Power Issue

Now,u plug in the tv u get a solid red standby power red LED light in the front of the LCD panel right? When u push the power button on the remote u hear a clicking sound?Only one clicking sound, not the power supply board problems. It the Tuner board problems. But u can make sure it the power board problems or not.By taking the tv aparts check the power board, that board where the a/c power cord goes into it.Look all around the power supply board check for these leakage capacitors, they alway bulges up it top or puff up it top.No bad leakage capacitors, then it not the power supply board problems.

My samsung dlp hl-s5686w turns for a minute video disappears audio continues and three lights flash the standby/temp,timer,lamp. all at the same time.

I'm having the same problem. Tried several things from dusting the inside with an air blower, removing the bulb and putting it back in, making sure the side panel is installed correctly and none of this has kept it from shutting off. Samsung's site says the three lights flashing means replace the bulb but I'm not buying it. My picture looks perfect....jsut that the TV keeps turning off. It all seems like a heating problem but my fans are still working. I'm scratching my head thinking what to try before forking out $150 for a new bulb.

Standby light stays on and the tv will not go on

Please check batteries in remote that seems not working. Sony TV would either turns On or standby light will blinks if TV gets any internal problem.
You question shows standby light stays On that means TV does not receive power on command from remote.
If standby light is blinking in sequence, let me know how many times it is blinking and also intimate exact model number of TV to find out possible solution.
Thanks.

Sometimes tv won't turn on and standby light blinks and sometimes it works perfect

The key here is the number of blinks of the standby light. This is an internal diagnostic code. Please provvide that count and I should be able to suggest possible fixes.

Thanks,
Dan
