Removing water pump clutch

You need to rent/borrow a fan clutch wrench remover set. They are large skinny wrenches that hold the bolts on the fan so it doesn't spin, while loosening that large nut. Sometimes you can monkey around with strap wrenches and crecent wrenches, but thats no fun. Kragen/Oriely's rents the tool for a $89 deposite. Return when done, and you claim back all your money. Yay! free toolls.

Is the big nut holding the fan to the clutch right hand, (right to tighten, left to loosen)? 1993 navajo

You mean standard or reverse thread?
Usually crank nuts are reverse thread in relation to the direction of the pulley.

So if the pulley\engine spins clockwise then the nut is probably going to loosen by spinning it counterclockwise.

Afterall it would do no good to go down the road and have the rotation of the engine spin the nut off of the crank pulley eh?

In changing the water pump I cant get the fan removed or that nut to budge is there a trick to getting it off

I cant say for sure with your vehicle but with some require a puller to get them off. as far as the nut goes they usually have reversed threads on them? if thats not the problem try some pbblaster or something sometimes they just get seized up.

Can't pull the radiator uot of my 1999 BMW 528i, t...

You gotta remove the fan and shround. Fan nut is 1.250" wrench. Fan nut is left handed thread. this means rightey loosey, lefty tightey. Go get the special tool to hold the fan pulley bolt heads. While you are turning the fan nut clockwise to loosen the special tool holds two of the fan pulley bolt heads to keep the fan pulley still. And voila, off comes the fan. then you can remove the shroud with it. Then you can remove the radiator. Fun job. I've got it down to 8 minutes.

I can't remove nut from end of vacuum.

The nut is reverse threaded . If you hold the fan with one hand use a ratchet to loosen the nut, you will have good enough leverage to break it, but if you don't then here's a little trick....Take your vise grip pliers and clamp it to the belt end shft of the motor. Now with your worktable (or floor) brace the vise gripped motor shaft . with the ratchet, turn the nut to the right. Like you're tightening it. this should be sufficient enough torque to bust that nut. I hope I was able to help you , let me know. Thanks, Rene (the Vacuum Doctor)

Waterpump removing fan

Well, if it's a 5.0L engine, remove the 4 bolts holding the fan to the pulley. If it's a 4.0L engine, you need to hold the waterpump pulley still and break the nut loose holding the fan clutch to the waterpump. If you don't have a wrench that big, try using a long chisel on the edge of the nut and hitting it very hard with a hammer to break it loose.

Changing Smeg SA280X/1 fan motor, shaft nut stuck?

Most fan blades are held on by a single nut, which is usualy a left hand thread, so to unscrew it you turn it clockwise as though you are tightening it up.and to tighten it,anticlockwise..
If the spindle turns, then you will have to hold it with a pair of grips or similar.
Plz rate my solution.
Thabks.
