Hi can anyone tell me what type of RAM is used in the Asus P4SGX-MX Motherboard please. Chris.

Your motherboard has 2 (DDR) and 2 (SDRAM) slots. DDR and SDRAM memory modules cannot be used simultaneously, and the maximum capacity is 2GB of RAM. So you can put in either DDR or SDRAM modules.

The memory specifications for that motherboard are as follows:

  • 100-megahertz (MHz) Memory Bus Speed (FSB)
  • Three 64-bit or 72-bit Error Checking and Correction (ECC) 4-clock, 3.3V, unbuffered synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) Single or double-sided DIMMs in the following sizes: 8 MB, 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB, 128 MB
  • Expandable to 384 megabytes (MB) of SDRAM, CAS latency of 2, using 64-Mbit chips
  • DIMMs must adhere to the Intel 4-clock 100-MHz 64-bit unbuffered SDRAM DIMM specification, latest revision
  • Uses gold-plated DIMM socket
  • ECC signal and multiple bit detection, single bit correction, supported, using ECC DIMMs, can be enabled and disable in the BIOS Setup Utility

    I NEED RAM

    Hi zouganeli,

You can install one, two or three modules. Each memory module can hold a maximum capacity of 128 MB of standard SDRAM chips, or 256 MB of registered SDRAM chips so maximum memory capacity is 384 MB of standard SDRAM memory or 768 MB registered SDRAM memory.

    Hope that helps

    Take care,

    Michael

You need to upgrade your memory modules to a bigger size, check your motherboard manual for supported memory speeds.

You can also look at your current memory be removeing it from the socket and see what it reads on it. Its either DDR memory or older SDRAM. I beleave your maximum memory is 3 GB

    Missing part

Hi, Sorry to tell you but this motherboard supports ONLY SDRAM memory. There is no way that a DDR memory will fit into this motherboard. What you can do is add another SDRAM memory for better performance.
