I have gxt450, same problem. It's the battery pack. Take it out, put in 4 new AA alkaline batteries. If that fixes the problem it has to be the batteries.

I think it may be a **** charger combined with a cruddy battery pack. You might be able to reset the battery by completely draining it, removing the pack, reinstalling it, and recharging for 24 hours before using. Only problem for me trying this is the charger LED stays green, I think it should be red until fully charged, so that's why I think the chargers are bogus. Just use AA batteries in that case.

In CW mode only, when switching from SEND to receive, there is a brief audio tone at the same frequency as the sidetone even with the ST disabled. Can't find it.

IM not 100% sure but it sounds as if what your experiencing is normal , for a send to listen transisiition If I remember this function is called Ping , and it was common on older sets to let the repeater know you had finished so it would switch from send to receive faster (no time out) I think this feature was inside the mic ? and could be added to radio later if you wished it too . your radio might have a setting for use with repeaters , you should be able to shut it off in settings

try holding the radio button until it shuts off after removing the key. I also read somewhere that opening and closing the driver door could shut it off.

Can't turn one unit off when I turn the volume allthe way down I get no click and the unit stays on

Unfortunately, your volume potentiometer (the part behind your volume knob, which connects to the component board, has gone bad. This can happen from turning the knob too far past full volume or even sometimes when turning it off. The part to repair this has never been offered as a replacement part. Your only solution is to remove the battery to turn the unit off.

Best regards.

Good evening: We purchased Morotorola MR350R radios a few months ago. Just now getting around to using them. We took the User Manual and set both radios the same. You can push to talk on either radio...

Try going back to a basic operation, shutting off any special features. Unlock your front buttons, if locked, and proceed with setting your frequency to 1, your code to zero (off), call tones to zero (off), etc. Then see if the two radios communicate. If not, you may have one bad radio, or a battery issue.

For the reference of others reading this here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/MR350-351%20User%20Guide%2012-16-08%20KEM-PK14190-90.pdf

Motorola Talkabout FV700 not transmitting nor receiving

To troubleshoot: Unlock your keypad lock, then reprogram your radios to the following settings. (Check function after each change)
1) Shut off the Interference Eliminator (set to zero).
2) Turn off the Qt filter.
3) Vox setting to off.

By shutting off all the "bells and whistles" of the radio, you will take it back to being just simply on a frequency. If your radios do not communicate with one another then, or with your friend's radios, you have radio which is failing to operate.

If the radios do work in this simple mode. One by one add the special features back until you discover the culprit.

My radio turns off automatically as soon as I hit the talk button.

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

Initially, I would assume that you have a pair and that the problem is with just one.

Based on this, I would suggest switching the NimH batteries. This is to eliminate the possibility that is is a battery/charging issue. Additionally, pls try to verify that the battery contacts both on the radio and the batteries themselves are clean. You may need to scrape them off to assure positive contact. Further on the radio's battery terminals, you may need to slightly bend them (or stretch if spring type) to provide more pressure in the contacts.

Incidentally, removing the battery for an extended period of time is enough to perform a reset.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
