In camera: search for format or erase all item. in PC (windows): just put your card in a card reader, go to my computer and right click on memory card drive then select format and click on format button. (make sure that select the right drive!) I hope this helps.

I have a Olympus x-42 In the booklet its shows how to delete 1 pic at a time but i would like to delete all(250) in one go! Any help Thanks

If you want to delete all pictures in one go, you can format the card.
  1. Make sure the Memory Card is inserted if you are clearing it. If you want to clear the Internal Memory, you must remove the Memory Card.
  2. Open the Settings Menu, select MEMORY FORMAT/FORMAT.
  3. Choose Yes to proceed to formatting the Card.

You can clear ALL pictures from the card by formatting it. In fact, the memory card should be formatted EVERY time you finish downloading pictures from it. This will prevent later problems.

To format the card in the L20, press the MENU button, select Setup (the wrench icon), then select "Format card" (the memory card icon).

I534 memory full, won't clear

Downloading pictures copies them from the camera to the computer, leaving them on the camera as well.

The best way to clear memory (either internal or a memory card) is to format it. Consult your manual for the procedure to format the appropriate one.

Hi kuanhuang913

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

If the images were "copied" the original images will still be on the disc. Try formatting the memory stick and see if this clears up your situation. If not, write back with specifics.

    Memory full; how to clear

Sounds like you will need to format the internal memory of the camera. This will permanently erase all the data from the internal memory and then you will be able to use it again. To format the memory: Remove the xD card from the camera - Press the Menu button - right arrow to setup - right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the memory so it can be used again.
